Thought I saw a post about this, but couldn't find it anywhere. I have a brand new G19 and I cannot get 10 rounds in the magazine. It seems way too "tight". What can I do to loosen up the magazine?

Glock 19 mag issues

The Glock 10 rounders are a PITA to get the last couple of rounds in compared to the normal capacity versions.
Seriously buy and try this. One of the best things to have in your range bag.

Better off loading minus one anyway... that way you can insert a mag with the slide closed.Comment

As a general rule, you might want to consider downloading pistol mags by one round.
Standard capacity AR mags by 2 rounds.
It ensures that the weapon can strip the first round. If the tension is too great, then seating the mag becomes problematic and can lead to type 1 malfunctions. If seated it can also lead to the gun not loading the first round from the mag.
And yes, mags do loosen up with time.
The 9th & 10th round are thumb benders.Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Yes, the loosen up over time.
Glock engineered the 10 round magazine specifically so that the 10th round is hard to load. During 1994-95 (when the Fed AWB was in effect), they had some issues with their first run of 10 round magazines being able to take 11 rounds and they got grief over them by the BATFE. So they redesigned the 10 round magazines, which as a byproduct makes the 10th round harder to load.sigpic

Maybe go to the gym, get a lil more man power. :PComment

The above posts are correct. Leave rounds in the magazine so the springs loosen up.Comment

Do you even lift? Just kidding. Use 9 rounds for awhile, I've done it plenty of times, no big deal. If the tenth round is tight & doesn't feed, you'll lose confidence in the gun. They should loosen up after awhile.Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!Comment
