Help with new sight decision: Fixed vs Adjustable

New Glock 17 Gen4 9MM. I want to replace the stock sights and I'm trying to decide between a Fixed and Adjustable rear. I'm leaning towards Dawson Precision.

I always I buy the least-expensive, decent-quality 9MM, 115 Grain, FMJ commercial ammo I can find (WWB, Sellier and Bellot, Blazer, etc.).

Let's say I go with a Fixed rear... Once I have the sights zero'd at 25yrds with WWB, can I expect the sights to remain zero'd when I switch to Blazer and Sellier and Bellot, as long as they are 115 Grain, FMJ rounds?

If not, I'm thinking a need an Adjustable rear sight.

Yes, you can expect fixed sights to be reasonably on target as you switch between various ammo types. Most of my target practice takes place between 7 to maybe 20 yards, distances at which adjustable sights really aren't that necessary..

If your G17 is your home defense item, I'd recommend going with fixed sights just to eliminate one more thing that you'd need to worry about in a situation.

Yes, it will be my HD gun (different ammo of course), but also my range, IDPA, USPSA, and GSSF gun.

I don't want to compromise on accuracy by going fixed.

Good choice on your the Sevigny Carry Sights. Fixed sights are they way to go!

I'd say buy another G17 and have one with fixed sights and one with adjustable sights.

Seriously though, I'd say fixed sights will do the job just fine.

Great choice of sights, all my Glocks wear Sevigny's. Here's what the .150" rear notch w/.115" wide front looks like on mine.

DRAB_81... I think it was in one of your posts that I learned that the Sevigny Carry sights have essentially the same sight picture as the Competition sights,
only with rounded edges... for a few bucks cheaper. Thanks for that tip.

I ordered the FO front sight, but at least initially, I want my sight picture to look just like yours (black / black), so I can really focus on 'the basics'.
I read somewhere that I could take a black bristle off a plastic broom and install it on the front, same process as an FO fiber to get an all black front....
That's my plan.

Can't wait for the sights to arrive! Got my finders crossed that the front sight height will be dead on, right off the bat.
