Adaptive Carbine Platforms illegal in Ca?

Hey cal gunners,

I was just wondering if purchasing ACPs (Adaptive Carbine Platform) are illegal here in Cali? ive done a little research on sites such as Sigsauer.com and a few other firearm sites and they will not deliver to Cali. i know this Accessory would make my handgun a SBR and i would have to register the firearm as C&R as an exception. Which is, i'm sure a pain in the neck.

But my real question is if i were to purchase a ACP via ebay or another classified site, will they be able to ship it to cali without any issues?
it is to my understanding that this would not need an FFL as it is not a full firearm only an add-on.

You generally - esp as an individual - can't register a modern gun as a C&R.

And the only ARs that could be C&R would be marked "Colt AR15", which makes them AWs by name wholly separate from C&R issue, and C&R does not serve as an exemption for CA AW status.

SIG sells three versions of the ACP.

1. Standard ACP
2. Enhanced ACP
3. LE ACP

The LE ACP will make a handgun into a SBR. Which requires BATFE and CA DOJ BOF approval.

The Standard ACP and Enhanced ACP will make a handgun into an assault weapon. [PC 30515(a)(4)(C)]

Therefore...
In order to legally install the Standard ACP or Enhanced ACP onto a semi-auto pistol, that semi-auto pistol must be modified to operate from a fixed 10 or less round magazine.

the barrel is still covered.by the slide, the acp in stnd is like a massive scope mount. Confused.

I know we error on the side of caution, just like to known if this type of device had been commented on by DOJ?

With it installed, the handgun's barrel and slide are covered by a "barrel shroud".

I just got a mech tech ccu for my glock. I plan to grind down the mag release to make a bullet button, and then install a ctr stock and pin it for 30" OAL

I ordered a G19 kit from glockparts.com and it was dropshipped within a week. Under current AW laws, it doesn't require any special registration. Now whether that will change in the next year or so, I don't know.

However, you can't just buy the kit and slap it on your pistol lower. Doing so would automatically make it an AW. There's a certain order that needs to be followed.

First I need to install a fixed stock on the Mech Tech CCU that will bring the OAL to 30". Then I'll have to remove the mag release from my glock and grind it down so that it cannot be pressed without the use of a tool. Once both of those steps are completed, I can finally attach the 2 pieces together and form Voltron...err I mean my 9mm carbine.

I purchased a Mech Tech CCU for my Glock 22 about 3-4 weeks ago and had no problems with it being shipped to CA. It's technically a parts kit, so no problems there. Best to travel to and from the range with the lower and upper separated. Technically requires a bullet button when assembled, but they have directions/specs in their online forum.
