Before anyone hollers at you, it's likely the copper anti seize type goop Glock uses. It appears copper colored.
If you want to confirm use a q tip or rag with a bit of carb cleaner, brake cleaner, maybe even alcohol to test a bit on the metal rail.
It should come off or smear enough to show you it's not the plating coming off.
Just keep shooting.

Those parts are not chrome plated. I say its the factory lube. Try using a degreaser on it, it should come right off.

I didn't say it was chrome plated, I said "chrome like coating". And you're wrong, whatever that coating is its flaking off revealing more of the core material which looks copper. If I pick at it it continues flake off revealing more of the copper looking material, and that isn't factory lube spreading further across.

I've got several hundred rounds through mine and it has almost no wear, but I have always used grease on the rails instead of oil. It does look like flaking in your pics and I would say it's not normal and you should contact Glock. They were great with me replacing those defective magazine followers.

Mine is also flaking in that same rail with a copper-colored metal underneath. Don't know if it's normal though.
