    G17c or pass?

I have always wanted a 17, but have never pulled the trigger because I am just not a Glock fan boy (sorry). Been looking for a gen 4 but can't find it in this market. Well I got a 17c waiting for me to dros, should I buy or pass?

I was thinking I could just buy a standard barrel and have the best of both worlds. Is there really any down side to have a ported slide, like actual down side, not I "heard" pocket lint will jam the slide in the middle of a zombie gun fight . I have 3 freedom mags for a 17 plus it comes with 2 freedom mags...

    Pro's?
    Con's?
    Realibilty/function?

    Thanks

I actaully own a 20c and love it. Only con (not to me though) is the c models are indeed louder. All the other negative stuff you here come from non c model owners. I would buy it. By the way it was my first glock, I now have three.

The best of both worlds, what's not to like?

if you have both barrels, I can't think of any downside to it. enjoy!

Correction to your post - it comes with two freedom rebuild kits.

Anyway - I personally think the Glock 17C is one sweet shooting gun. As mentioned above, ported guns do sound louder but the way the gun shoots is just awesome. I find that when I've used a friend's Glock 17C, I can easily keep my shots in the X and 10 ring at 7 yards. I am certain the gun is capable of even better than this, when I get a chance to see my friend again, I'll ask to shoot it a bit more to get better acquainted with it.

Above target shows approx 10 rounds into the upper left, and 40 rounds into the center. Very easy shooting gun, the porting (to me) does not adversely affect my shooting experience - if anything, it helps make it much easier to get on target and felt recoil is reduced.

And you can always cover the slide ports with duct tape.

It's louder but follow up shots are extremely fast. Great for games or just range fun.

Sure it's louder, naturally. One thing to consider as well is if you decide to use it for HD then I wouldn't recommend it. Reason being is because in the event of a HD situation at night and your eyes are already adjusted to the dark, you run the risk of blinding yourself briefly after the first shot. When I worked at a shooting range I turned off the lights in the range after hours and got adjusted for about 20 minutes and then BAM, blinded myself from the flash coming from the ports.

"I have 3 freedom mags for a 17 plus it comes with 2 freedom mags..." I already have 3 without owning a glock.

                  Thanks for all the input/advice

I have a 22c and a 20c and love them. If you have the chance to get the 17c at a decent price you should go for it.

Its gonna be loud but don't worry so much about being blinded in a night shoot. I have a 23c and haven't had any problems. I've shot revolvers at night that were much worse when it comes to flash. I don't see anyone saying that the flash from a revolver is unacceptable so why do people have so much bad to say about the Glock "c" models? Its really not as bad as some people want you to believe. If you like it get it and don't look back.
