    Painted my P6 Slide & Now it's a Tutone

I've been thinking about refinishing or painting my slide on my
Sig P6/225. I bought the Permablue Re-Bluing kit and after reading
reviews it didn't seem to work that well.

Since I'm use to customizing diecast cars as a hobby,
I decided to purchase some primer and paint to paint the
slide on my 1st Sig P6/225 last night/this morning.

Here is my results. (Six Pictures)

Looks nice! Kind of an earth tone looks like. I really need to look into one of those P6s as they seem like a heck of a deal, unfortunately, I am kinda getting the 1911 bug at the moment....

    Good job!

      Hi Capt Jack,
      Earth Tone is correct.
      These Sigs are great shooters!
      Thanks for the comment.
I almost gave up on the forum members.

I like it, saw another member doing something along this line. Looks like I have to line up my ducks and pick up one of these. How was the process?

I am curious as well. Have you taken it to the range, if so how many rounds fired, and how is the paint holding up?

            Hi Saigon1965 & Red Dawn,
I just painted it this morning.
I'm doing a final coat tonite and will let it dry & cure
for a month before taking it to the range again.
Like Paul at RCGE said...the secret is to let it cure
and not to rush the drying time.

I bought a second p6/225 from RCGE and will be Drosing it
on Wedesday and then picking it up 1st week in June.

Now to remask again for another coat.
Here's a few picks of the prior masking & priming.
Thanks for the response, it makes this project more fun
            to work on.

Your frame looks to be in great condition. The p6 I've seen are a tad beat up. Will it dry into a different shade?

I just picked mine up from River City on Wednesday and am thinking about going 2-tone as well. If I do, however, I think I'll go with a bead blast finish...1911 Whore in Orangevale does good work so we'll see if I can spare the change!

My P225 slide should be coming back from CCR this month. I had them refinish it in their "house stainless." Nevertheless, it's always nice to observe other methods of refinishing.

                      Hi Red Dawn,
                      CCR is my backup plan.
I read nothing but good things about them.

                        Hi Natedog1777,
I'm retired now and I use to customize Diecast cars into CHP cars
besides collecting Hot Wheel cars and disassembling them to customize.
So now, I'm just enjoying doing this as another one of my hobbies.

I'll post pictures when I get it back.
I caught them during the sale. They only charged me $130 to refinish both my Sig P225 and HK USPc slides in "house stainless," including the shipping back.
I gotta say, I love the fact that they answer the phone by the second or third ring.

Good luck on your project, it looks like it's turning out pretty well. Personally, I like to tinker with my toys as well. It's always nice to see people trying new and different things.

I love the SIG P6. It is quickly becoming my favorite handgun, eclipsing the P228 that long held that spot.

It just fits so well, and is so accurate, that I can't complain much at all.

I can't wait to get home to be able to see your pics.
