DW VBOB slide stop issues

Let me just start by saying that I have owned a great number of 1911s over the years. That is by no means to qualify me as any kind of expert but simply that I have not noticed this issue to the same degree with other pistols in the past. My slide release seems to be SUPER sensitive on my DW vbob. Is that just the way it is? I almost ghost touch it and slide slams forward. It did it the other day at the range when simply slamming a mag in. Seems a touch sensitive. Should I grab a new slide stop? Should I stop shooting forever? Should I join a band? Should I get those shoes with individual toes for running? Should I stay away from gluten?

You need a new tighter fitted slide stop. I would keep shooting while wearing barefoot toe shoes and join a band with the first hit single being called "Guns and Gluten can kill you".

What magazines are you using?

Does the lower rear corner of the slide stop notch look like it's getting rounded?

Are you using a Shok-buff?

CMC 10 rd mags. No rounding on slide stop and no shok-buff

You want the SS pin and the notch to have a nice even mating surface. What is shown in the pic will eventually lead to peening of your slide.

No need for a new SS pin. Make the one you have work, or find someone that will.

Any suggestions on competent 1911 gunsmiths in LA area? I'd prob do a few things to her at the moment. May be good to get it all done at once.

It's obvious by the contact angle between slide and stop it needs a 'tweekin.

Google up similar pics and you'll see what I mean.

I recommend Dave Severns in NV. He is a "Master" with 1911's, and a Dan Wesson enthusiast to boot.

I don't see why you couldn't send it to Dan Wesson for repair, I've sent in my CBOB slide twice, no cost. Once for the slide stop peen and once to put a new front sight, (it flew off)

Just a follow up. DW paid shipping both ways, replaced slide stop and tuned extractor all free of charge. Dudes are seriously legit in my book.
