    XDs Guide Rod Problem

So after shooting the first 50 rounds, I field stripped and cleaned my new XDs and noticed that the rear seat of the spring guide rod was rough and somewhat flattened around the rim. Is this normal wear or do I have some problem with the guide or lug on the barrel?

I was shooting WWB 200gr FMJ-RNs. No rapid fire, just point, aim, shoot.

That looks pretty tore up. Did you look at it before you shot it for the first time?
I have a XD and haven't seen anything like that with over 200 rounds through.

My XDs is the same way and from what others have said over on the XDtalk forum, it seems to be the norm for the XDs. Keep shooting and if you have a problem send it in to Springfield. Enjoy that little beast, I sure do!

No I didn't break it down before shooting. I thought maybe it was someone at the factory deburring it a little too roughly....dunno

Yes she sure shoots nice. My first 1911 type gun and love the grip safety. Reminds me to hold her more snuggly.

Just saw this on XDtalk - looks like this is pretty common on the XDm and XDs platforms although it seems unacceptable to me that this type of craftsmanship is considered ok. One would think you could potentially damage the barrel lug over an extended period of time .

Loos like Idaho beat me to it.

Both my XD's have some slight wear after 1500+ rounds. Springfield has a great warranty if something is actually goes wrong with it.

Yeah seems strange that its inherent to the design and yet Springfield doesn't seem too worried? Dunno. I guess a guide rod is cheaper to replace than a barrel if the need arises. There must be quite a few of these XDs in circulation by now. Perhaps a later fix will happen.

Maybe order a spare at some point is a good idea.

The guide rod appears to be metal, I assume it is steel. If it is, there should be corresponding wear marks inside the gun where it rubbed in the first place. Is there any wear elsewhere in the pistol (I don't see any in the pics)?
