SIG P 250 scuttlebutt

SO. i know the word on the street was california would never see the SIG p250 for sale. but i was talking to the local gun store who had spoke to the SIG rep who said the gun was recently approved. i wont believe it till i see it, but i am still excited.

I've asked our reps - both sales as well as head of LE division, and they stated quite clearly that the P250 has NOT been approved, and likely would NEVER be approved.

I'd love them to be available for sale in CA, but at the moment it just isn't so.

Those of us who want 250s need to convince as many LEOs and out of staters moving to California how great they are.

Then maybe some can trickle into the used market.

You are forgetting one thing. As far as I know, the Sig 250 has ONLY 15 round magazines and there are no ten rounds. Again, NOT IN CALIFORNIA.

CA approval would come as a suprise to me. I believe I read somewhere (IIRC in that long P250 thread on SigForum) that in addition to the mag disconnect and loaded chamber issues, CA DOJ has already said that they would not approve it. I don't really know the details, I think Sig may be keeping this under wraps until they can try to work something out on it, but it had to do the being able to assemble different semi-auto firearms on a single serial #. I have not seen enough info, nor have found anything in the PC that addresses that. I have a sneaking suspicion that the DOJ is trying to do some back door legislating again.

I read the same thing, and yeah I totally forgot about the mags.

My local range/gun shop has had a coupe in the case, and a full display showing off the different drips available .... but they are for LEO only. At least that's what I was told at the shop. What a tease, it looks like a cool little gun.

Jack of All Trades, Master of None?

When I was a child, my father was fond of buying toys for Christmas and birthdays that were of the genre, "8 in 1". Not only was it a "pool table", but also a "knock hocky" table, a "foosball table", a "checkerboard', and four other things. However, all of its various games were crap when compared to a game that was one thing alone.

I wonder if the P250 will prove to be the same? What is the point of having one frame that can be interchanged with four different calibers? Will any of them be as good as a pistol designated for one caliber only?

There is one with no mags for sale on the trader forum. Also for some reason Ades gunshop in Orange did or does have a display out advertizing this gun.

Additional calibers on the same frame have been allowed before. The DROS form even includes two (maybe three) fields for additional calibers.

Indeed, if this is the story DOJ is using, this does sound like some more backdoor legislation
