The TRP is a much better gun than the Loaded. The Springfield TRP models are semi custom and for the add ons you get for the 1911, the price is really good and a true value purchase.

If you are looking for a no frills 1911 and want to work on it, probably the government model is a better bet. I personally have a Springfield Loaded 1911 SS .45ACP and I love it. Most of the mods I wanted are already on the gun.

    25 yard accuracy is exceptional.

The Loaded is an awesome pistol. In my meager hands, I can get a 1" group at 10 yards (see-I told you, meager hands). But, it is a production pistol that you can get for ~$1k. The TRP is quite a big leap above that. The Loaded has just about all of the same cosmetic features as the TRP. The major differences are the night sights, front strap checkering and the magwell. Some have strong opinions on the front strap checkering. It is quite sharp-especially for a keyboard jockey like myself (Hey! Watch it buddy! I can type 120 words a minute!!!).

Beyond that, to echo what others have said, the TRP has much better hand fitting and they start off with nicer NM barrel/bushings. The trigger is much, much nicer though. As far as the quality of the small parts, both have similar parts. Both share some of the same MIM parts. I'm not sure of specific differences.

An *alternative* is to start with a Loaded, shoot it for a year and do upgrades that only you want. Or...(and infamous might take a difference of opinion on this hehehe), check out a Les Baer from CJ at 1911heaven.com His prices for a semi-custom 1911 are just a smidgen over the prices of new TRP's (depending on what you get of course).

Both the TRP & Loaded come with Springfield's awesome/legendary/totally super-duper customer service.

My suggestion is to handle the TRP and see if the checkering will work for you.

Just for fun-check out this comparison of a handful of 1911's. Particularly interesting is how a Loaded stacks up against a Pro!!! http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=321236

Happy shopping, shooting and be safe.

I must be the only one that feels the TRP is a bit overrated. Don't get me wrong it's a darn good production 1911. But that's all it is, it's not that different from a MC Op or loaded. Same barrel, trigger, hammer, grip safety, slide stop, sights, safety and has the two piece guide rod a negative in my book.
You do get really nice front grip checking and tactical roll marked on the frame. Along with a magwell.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

Retired and on a budget. I guess that will be the ultimate decision maker for you. Range time or competitive shooting plays into your decision. If I had the $$, I would have several models. I have 4 Kimbers and love them all, Good luck

I had a TRP but hated the very aggressive checkering on the front-strap. I strongly recommend you handle one and rock it in your grip to get a feel for that. I kept my "Loaded" and think it is an outstanding pistol.
That price difference between the Loaded and TRP can buy a lot of ammo.
Good luck with whichever you choose!

If this is going to be your final gun purchase the TRP if you have others or may purchase another 1911 down the line get the loaded. See what u don't like and get the upgrades on your next. Mine has been a dream out of the box and even novice shooters have been balls on from the start. Technically they are both more accurate than I am so I don't know the difference. The acutal difference make little difference to me. Is that cause I don't know what I am doing or saying? Probably but it is my experience.
I support the NRA, if you are not in, you can't win.
