LE agency issued ammunition?

Does anyone know of a reference to what LE agencies are currently issued as their duty ammuniton? My guess would be Winchester Ranger T or similar but I would like to know for sure.

I'm specifically looking for Sac County Sheriff issued ammuniton. I looked but failed to find anything and even called (Sac Sheriff) a couple times with no luck.

I realize this is probably the wrong forum to be in but with better traffic I might find what I'm looking for. Thanks.

I will not say where ( a dirty little backwater anyway) but we just switched from 180 ranger T to 180 HST due to it being reportedly slightly better and it being cheaper. Cheaper is the more likely reason.

Us Stanislaus county boys are using the winchester ranger

LASD is 147 grain Winchester Ranger Ts for 9 and 230 grain Winchester Ranger Ts for .45. I believe, but am not sure LAPD's 9 ammo is the same. No clue about their .40.

LAPD uses 230gr. HST for 45 i believe.

I asked a Deputy friend some weeks ago .
They also buy from Winchester/ Remington just depends who wins the bid .

Ask the Sheriff or a deputy. But if you're worried about liability don't be, unless you're using handloads.

I would think that in all the larger departments must issue a bid with a minumum performance specification. Low price that meets the bid spec gets it.

Do LE use cheaper FMJ on the range for training and practice?

might look at pre-fragmented ammo, like glaser, or magsafe....just in case you miss, and it doesn't over penetrate

Depends. Agency my buddy was in had only one kind of ammo so they just issued that. A lot of guys in that agency sold it to the local gun shop.
