CZ pistols?

I have heard a lot of good things over the years about the CZ pistol. I saw the ad for EAA's Witness Elite Gold in American Rifleman and though it was one sexy gun. Here is a pic of it...



Anywho, I thought the CZ clone would be a nice gun to build up and maybe use in matches. Have any of you tried the 45ACP model? Is it much larger then the 9mm/40 model. Any MFG's better then others?

Not directly related to your post, but I have wanted a CZ-75B for the last three years ever since shooting one for the first time. My fiancee also is after one. I was going to buy one last week, but then I got a sweet packaged deal on three FN's (shotgun, bolt rifle, and handgun), so I went that direction instead. But there is a member here with a 75b that I am going to pick up as soon as I get the funds set aside for it if he still has it by then. Then I'll have to get her one too.

They are great guns from all that I have experienced and I doubt their other models would sway too far from fitting the same reputation. That is one sexy design.

Well the more I read about this type of gun the more I want to try one. the CZ97B seems to be the model I want now I just have to find a shop that has one I can hold. They say the grip is bigger then the 75 but I have big hands and like bigger grips anyway. They also can be had for around $500 which makes a great buy.

Everyone needs a CZ75B

Probably too far for you but, River City Gun Exchange and The Gun Room in Sacramento have CZ97 laying around.

I have bought a CZ75B Tactical and a Standard recently. I love them. I have huge hands but with Houge wrap-around grips they fell nice in the hand. They also point like no other. Both of mine do hang up on aluminum Blazer from time to time but brass is fine. I got a great deal from a member on the standard. CZ makes great firearms. I also have a CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62x39 .

The CZ75 is the best value in semi-automatics, hands-down. I'll never understand why H&Ks and SIGs get so much attention. I guess people figure that if something is expensive it has to be better. Often it simply means it is overpriced.

I will be parting with my .40 S&W CZ75B soon, except it will be as a trade for a 9mm CZ75BD, if I can find onw.

Not a fan of H&K or Sig i see...stop the hatin! I have both, and they are fine pistols, sometimes what you pay is what you get and sometimes its just the cost of manufacturing (Germany vs Czech Republic). Now nothing against CZ, Im actually looking into picking up a CZP01 or CZ75 compact, and they do seem to be nice pistols. An argument could easily be made that I'll never undstand why people give CZ's any attention. I guess the only reason is that people figure that if something is cheap, it would make it seem like they are not as good. Thus the desire of cheapo's to pick up an inexpensive gun. Now we know thats sometimes true, I know CZ are quality guns used by many militaries and governments and thats why most people buy their guns. Same for SIGs and HK's, quality guns with great history, just because they are not the "best value in semi-automatics" as you may think, doesn't mean they shouldn't get that much attention, and your justification of their high cost due to peoples ignorance that people think "more expensive= better" basically is a slap to the intelligence of those who owns SIG's or HK's.

I've heard the Baby Eagle aka Jericho is also a CZ clone. Is that true? I've always wanted a CZ, especialy the CZ75BD Police model but if I ever come across a compact elite, I can settle for that too. To me the CZ is very 1911-ish which is why I love em'.

It is a clone of the cz75 I believe, but with minor differences. But unlike most clones which are on the lower quality end. I heard the baby eagle was the complete opposite.

Does anyone remember the Springfield P9? I doubt it will happen but I hope the XD line doesn't have the same fate.

XD's are pretty damn popular, from what I've seen, heard, and read. Although I'm not a big fan, I think it's here to stay.

CZ's, OTOH, are fantastic pistols. My 75b Tactical outshoots my Sig 226 ST and my Beretta Elite II. It's not as nice finish-wise as the latter two (both of which had smoother machining and better out-of-box triggers), but the pistol's ergos make it nasty accurate.

Mine had FTF's after my gunsmith installed a lighter hammer spring. I swapped it out with another factory spring, and the gun's been 100%. With the competition sights from Angus, it's the most accurate 9mm pistol I own. Based on performance alone, I'd buy one at twice the price.

Well things are in the works to do a traid for my Springfield loaded 1911 for a CZ97B. My borther wants a 1911 so I told him if he covers the cost of my CZ97B I'll give him the 1911. I just never fell 100% in love with the 1911. The grip feels...well on the small side for me.

MY LOCAL SHOP JUST GOT ONE IN!!! YIPPY!!!

Came in on Tue or Wed. As soon as I held her it was like a bright light turned on from above. The grip is the BEST I have ever felt. Its very big almost as big as a Desert Eagle and I LOVE IT!! My hand fit it like a glove. The fit between the slide and frame was very tight. The trigger was a little gritty but I think that was just because it needs a good cleaning plus I can work on the trigger and make it smooth as glass. They are asking $595 for it which is a little much. I'm sure I can get it down to $550. The funny thing is the tag says "Night sights" but its nothing more then glow in the dark paint LOL.

I'm so buying that gun.

My 75B Trigger started out gritty and has gotten much smoother after the first 500 rounds. I love this gun! Put some trigger time in on it before doing any work. Mine is slick as glass now 4000 rounds later.
