    P7M8 Holster

I am looking to pick up a quality holster for my P7M8. It is a pretty heavy gun and they don't make it any more so I don't know where to look. I know there are custom places that will charge you an arm and a leg (like $200) and make you wait a year. I want something that rides real low and sits flush. IWB would be the best I think.

I also want the holster to have a good lining inside since the P7's finish is not the best in the world, mine is in perfect factory condition and I would like to keep it that way for as long as possible.

I read about a guy on CalGuns that used this holster to carry his P7M8. Can anyone chime in?

In my opinion, those particulat Don hume holsters work well only for lightweight pistol. The weight of the P7M8 will make that holster uncomfortable for extended carry.

Milt Sparks VMIIs are highly regarged. From experience with the P7M8 I had, the VMII was fantastic. It distributed the weight well, was extremely comfortable, and concealed very well.

Lightning arms Sports often carries Sparks holster. You pay higher than retail with them, but you will have your holster within a couple days. They are fantastic people.

Another good option would be an IWB holster from TT Gunleather. His holsters look nearly idential to the VMII, but with a much more reasonable wait, and at a palatable price. Plus, he's a fellow Californian.

You've got an excellent pistol. Do yourself a favor and invest in a quality holster.

Pretty pricey, do I have any other options. Maybe around $100?

Take a look at the TT Gunleather holsters I provided the link to. The IWB is $85 plus shipping (it ends up being just over $90 shipped). Likely the best price you'll find hor a holster of its caliber.

They stopped making P7's for now. But I bet down the road HK will mysteriously find a box of parts for P7M8's that they didn't know existed and they will have limited run of P7's for sale at prices higher than the jubilee's. Then 5 years later the same thing will happen. Fact is there are literally thousands of P7's (PSP's, M8's and M13's) out there and many countries have surpluses of P7's that will find their way to the US.

Anyways, back to holsters. I have owned a handful of P7's (PSP, M8 and still own a M13). I carried my M8 exclusively for nearly 2 years everyday for 14 hours+ in the sweltering heat and ungodly humidity of the South. For a P7M8 you need a well made holster to balance out the weight. After doing much research my choice ended up being a Milt Sparks VMII and I am glad I purchased one. Too many times people spend loads of money on a handgun then go cheap on a holster and belt. Take it from someone who had a box of holsters, for a IWB holster in leather buy a VMII. If you want to go with kydex, buy a Comp-tac which is basically a VMII but in kydex.

Another thing to take into consideration to the handgun, holster combo is a sturdy belt. For years I made due with off the shelf belts in 1.5" width. My handguns always seemed to sag and bother me because my my belts were not sturdy enough to manage the weight. A friend of mine mentioned to me that I should try a custom gun belt. It took me 10 weeks but when I received my Milt Sparks custom double thickness belt it was simply amazing the transformation in my CCW. I know I just said that it is important to have a quality holster but if you are on a budget, get a decent holster and spend the extra money on a belt. I recommend anything from Milt Sparks.

I know Spark's delivery times are quoted at 26 weeks for holsters but it's not that long for belts or accessories. Also, there are several online dealers who carry Milt Sparks or Lou Alessi or various other customer makers leather who sell them for dollars over what they charge from the maker. For example, I purchased a second Milt Sparks belt from Allan Yost and paid $5 more than they sell for from the factory and I got it the next day. Check it out.

Anyways, if you don't know what a VMII looks like take a look at a thread I started recently. It have pictures of VMII's and CQC/S. One of the VMII's is the one I used for my P7M8. Doesn't look too shabby considering I used it every day for nearly 2 years and then on and offer for another 4 years.
