I've checked and double checked that I reassembled everything properly. The slide lever is definitely inserted all the way but still having the issue. Looks like I'll be calling Sig tomorrow. Even if the firing issues are break-in related, this slide catch lever seems to be a real problem. I'd rather not take chances with a HD weapon...guess I have to rely on the ol' Mossy a while longer.Comment

I have a 2022 and when I bought it the guy behind the counter warned me about the catch lever. He said its so hard to get out when the gun is new, people jack it up while trying to remove it for cleaning.
I'm sure that isn't what happened to you, but who knows what your local shop did to it. Just a thought.
Side note, I just broke 2k round through my 2022 and have had zero problems. I didn't have that good of a record with my G17. Its a great gun, hopefully once you get it back you will see that as well. No! I have never shot Bambi! Bambie's dad however....Comment

Sounds like an extractor related problem.Comment

After explaining the issues to SIG, the CS rep sent me a shipping label and told me to send it in right away. I was expecting them to tell me to try a different ammo or tell me that I was just assembling it wrong, but didn't really get any questions.
I'll post an update when I get it back (hopefully not in 4-5 weeks as indicated in the email they sent).Comment

Besides, the extra time can be spent hunting for more ammo to shoot when you do get it back!!!Les Baer 1911: Premier II w/1.5" Guarantee, Blued, No FCS, Combat Rear, F/O Front, Checkered MSH & SA Professional Double Diamond Grips

Definitely send it back to Sig. My first pistol was a SP2022 in 40 S&W and I never had any issues of any kind with various types of cheap ammo. I'm sure I did a ton of limp wristing, over oiling, and other stuff too.Comment

UPDATE:
So I sent it back to SIG on Friday, 5/31 and got an email yesterday saying it was shipped back. I should be getting it on Monday, so +1 for speedy service after saying it was going to take several weeks.
Out of curiosity I called customer service to find out what they did. I was half expecting them to say they couldn't find any problems and it was all user error, but was told they replaced the slide stop and spring, adjusted the extractor, adjusted the trigger, and put 50 rounds through it to test.
It's unfortunate that I got a unit with some issues. I've been somewhat lamenting my decision to buy this gun rather than something else, but I'm still hopeful that I'm going to be happy with it.
I'll update again after I get it back and can take it to the range.Comment

I had the same issues you first talked about -especially stove piping. Unit was pretty new too. Sent it back to sig and they replaced my slide and barrel. No problems since. The only gripe is I had to pay $55 for shipping. Hope your gun comes back with zero probsComment

Update 2:
So finally got to the range and put 100 rounds of Remington UMC and PMC Bronze 119gr through. Not a single failure, and groupings were pretty good. Unfortunately, still have problems with the slide release lever. SIG replaced the spring and lever but still had the lever end up on the outside of the slide at the end of a magazine. They claim they tested with no more problem, so not sure what's going on. I'll try to get a video next time at the range.Comment
