    HandGun PPT

    Hi,

How does hand gun PPT work, is the serial# of the gun just added to buyers name or DOJ deletes the serial from seller profile and add it to buyer? and I have also heard from a FFL that DOJ keeps records only for 7 years is it true?

I am asking this question because some places when you do PPT, buyer doesn't get the DROS copy to protect sellers information.

    thanks

Not sure about the first part to your question, but for the 2nd part, buyer can get a copy of the DROS - they photocopy the top portion only and leave out the seller's info.

I've always gotten a copy of the DROS for PPTs.

My question is, does DOJ remove the serial from sellers name, some way to identify that seller no longer owns that gun?

The DOJ doesn't remove information and they don't destroy handgun DROS records! In fact, they have been updating their computer records with old DROS info from the 70's and 80's. They still have some DROS info from the 1920's when the first CA DROS system started!

This. They'll just add the serial number to your name which will be linked to your CA DL or ID. Not certain but there must be a date of record to show who the most recent or last owner is.

Great, that's the info I was looking for.

The buyer (and seller, in the event that the; buyer is denied), must meet the normal firearm purchase and delivery requirements

got this info from CA DOJ site, it looks like they just add a record to buyers record instead of deleting from Seller profile (may need to figure out who the last owner was).

            thanks
