Anybody have one of these in socal? I am really considering milling my slide for it, but would really love to handle one with a RMR mounted.

The slide mounted RMR is a neat idea, but I know of two gentlemen at my local USPSA club that has had three RMRs die on his Block and another has had two die on his double stack 1911 when it was mounted to the slide. Once they mounted it on the frame, the RMRs stopped breaking. -

My WAG:
With Glocks, the polymer frame actually flexes and acts like a shockabsorber. The slide comes back, but it has a bit of "give" which minimizes the shock.
With metal frames, there isn't the flex, so the slide comes back and STOPS, which shocks the sight.
Watching slow motion, you can see the Glock frame flex.Luck favors the prepared.

I concur with the flex. Overall however, trijicon will warrantee the rmrs.

Frame mounting seems simple. Couple holes in the frame and a rail. It's just freakin ugly.Comment

Thats why I mounted mine on my glocks.
i want to mount one on a 1911 as well but i dont think it compliments the gun very well. based on the idea of hw glock slides are more square it works and looks nice.
I'm not a comp shooter I just wanted to do it for the hell of it. lol.

Those are very nice. I think ill head to turners tomorrow and see if I can dros a 45 glock. I just love my 1911. And considering i have a bare caspian and kto, i justcthought it could work.

Had one on my FNX-45 Tactical
I could not get used to using it on a handgun. It was too distracting for me, but thats just me.California, love it or leave it....well after fifty years, sure am glad I left!Comment

What RMR models are you guys using? I have the RM01 but I have trouble with the auto adjusting feature when facing direct sunlight. The red dot becomes so bright that it loses focus and looks like a starburst. The only way I found to correct this is by adding a piece of tape on top to of the RMR to provide some "shade".Originally posted by G. Michael HopfComment

You should look into getting one of these.
I have one on my RMR and it seems to provide the correct amount of light in the bright sun. If I shoot in low-light or at night, I just take it off, it snaps off pretty quick.
I did send them an email suggesting making a more clear one, we'll see what happens.Comment

I didn't even know they made something like that. Thanks for the link! I like that it's pretty inexpensive too. If it were made by Trijicon, I'd expect to pay at least $30 for it.You should look into getting one of these.

The gentleman that I mentioned that has had 3 RMRs die was on an "Open" Glock by Zev works for USPSA Open Division.
There are mounts that should work well with the RMR for a 1911. This one has a JPoint on it, but I do not think it would be too hard to mount an RMR.
