E2 grip on a West German Sig P226?

I just picked one of these up, but it has a Hogue grip which is a little bit bulky. So, I was looking at putting in a E2 grip, but from all that I have read, there are conflicting opinions as to whether it would fit and what additional parts I would need to make it fit. Anyone here know for sure what the answer is?

If yours is an older 226, there's definitely a few things you'll need to change to make E2s fit. The kit comes with all of the parts you'll need and it's fairly simple (there are many video walkthroughs on YouTube). I personally, didn't like the feel of the e2 grips so if you want a complete kit for cheap, let me know : )

have you tried the OEM factory grips for the w german P226?

Send it to SIG people mess up the conversion all the time. I had mine sent to Sig and I love the E2 grips and swear by them.

I'd take your grips off and see what hammer spring and trigger bar spring you have first. If you have the shorter hammer spring already, then you most likely have the trigger bar spring with the loop in it anyways, and all you need is the kit.

The hammer spring you'll need length-wise:


If you have an older hammer spring, it'll be this long:


If you have an old-*** trigger bar spring, you'll have this. No bueno:


You should have this one, which is what we are looking for:


I took the opportunity to change the hammer spring with a Wolff hammer spring. Same pound rating as the OEM (21 lbs), but better quality. My factory spring had a few small issues.

Let me know if you have any other questions, but really, with a pair of pliers, a few screwdrivers, etc., it's a job you can do at home easily.
Interestingly, I switched to Hogue grips. Best balance for me and my ham hands, but for people with slimmer fingers and shorter fingers, these E2 grips are great.

Looks like they changed the grip kit to fit the newer models I would still call sig to see if you need to make any further modifications to the W German SIG.

How is the E2 different than stock?

The E2 is a much narrower grip than the fat stock grip

The E2 grips will fit on a W German Sig frame, no issues. The big thing that needs to get switched out is the mainspring and hammer strut assembly which is included in the kit. Depending on the pistols, the provided decocker is needed for the swap.

If you're uncomfortable with the swap, I am able to install it for you.

I find the E2 grips very comfortable. Good fit on my early W. German P226, but have to replace the parts noted by others.
