    Sig trivia

Hi Guys, I got a question for you Sig guys. My friend just bought a Sig 228 two tone 9 mil off his dad that his dad has had for a while, and he said there were only 300 or so made. Do you guys know what this gun is worth? He bought it for $800.

This may be a better place to ask:

      I don't know about the 2-tone but I've seen plenty of 9mm 228s.

Have you tried googling 2-tone sig 228?

According to Blue Book, which is a few years old...

        Sig P228 9mm: 100% $675

Add $95 for Siglite night sights
Add $45 for nickle slide (two tone)

The Custom Shop Limited Edition (released 2004) is retailed at $800

P229s are not rare. Sig did not make a 300-run production of a special P229. Whomever said that was either misinformed, or probably pulling your leg.

P228 2-tone only 300 made? I think that is wrong information. As for the $800 price tag......it a tad over the going rate for a used P228. Being a sig forum visitor I have seen P228s in the $600 - $750 range -- used of course. If it was coming from your friend's dad I would think they guy would offer a family discount

To much, but maybe it was payback for all the years his dad put up with him, haha

300 made? Sounds like some kind of commemorative edition? Sort of like this COPS Commermorative Edition:

But most of Sig commemorative editions that I know of are built on the P220 or P226 frames? I don't remember ever hearing of a P228 or P229 commemorative?

I thought I heard they only made 300 of the all Stainless P229s.

It MAY have been a Gun of the Month thing that Sig did for a while, they were "special editions" and were released in limited numbers.

Either way, IMO, he over paid, especially from family. Then again, I don't value the 228 as highly as others do. An item is really only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it, right?

Dad got one over his son! While your friend's at it, I have a Sig P220 ST that I'm selling for that too. There weren't that many made and they don't make them anymore.

Is the SIG P228 marked "228-9-NOV05?" These were labeled 2005 Gun of the Month.

These have the satin nickel slide, controls, and anodized frame and were in limited production of 162 being made.
