New Beretta 92FS

I have a new Italian-made Beretta 92FS waiting for me to pick up on Thursday, I can't wait!

I was wondering what are some of the simple upgrades that most people do to these right from the get-go? The main ones I know of are replacing the plastic guide rod, swapping out different recoil springs, extended mag release, and trigger upgrades.

I'd like to get a feel for it in its mostly stock state before I start changing out too much, but the metal guide rod replacement seems like a no-brainer to me. Not sure about the recoil spring upgrade though, I will most likely just be shooting ball ammo at the range, with maybe a little +P or high powered home-defense rounds. I think the factory recoil spring is 13lbs, and I know you can get them up to 20lbs but that must be for high power loads.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

No need to mess with the 92.
Oh, and ammo. Lots of ammo.

The best upgrade you can give it is a good cleaning and lube and copious time at the range. I wouldn't start swapping parts until a little wear is evident on the slide rails.

Why don't you shoot the gun a bit and get a feel for it before you go around swapping out parts? It's like people who salt their fries before eating them.

The gun is perfect how it is. That money would be better spent on ammo and more range time. I wouldnt even change the sights, everything just works so well together, its really a flawless platform.

I might get a metal guide rod since they are supposed to be metal anyway.

A SGS compensator like the professional, a d spring, a elite hammer and some rosewood grips.

In all seriousness, more mags and ammo. Night sights if needed

Berettas are a little on the thick side, and a new set of grips can thin them down quite a bit for small handed people.

Other than that, there are things people do because they want to, not because they have to (D-spring, metal guide rode, elite hammer).

Swap your recoil spring every 5000 rounds or so. Some people like to change the locking block every 20,000 rounds or so.

I just picked up the M9A1 model. It shoots 4-5" low at 7 yards. (No, it's not me). Is there a lower front sight or an adjustable rear available that anyone has tried?

Which grips are thinner enough, to feel a difference?

I bought my first one on 88 and it still is perfect to me. I maybe shot it 6 - times a year.

I mainly shoot 1911's and a S&W 386 using the #2 picture here :

The website is horrible, the grips are ugly, and the company is French.
However, they really do change the handling dynamics, the gun almost feels like a single stack AND I can get my stubby thumb onto the mag release without shifting the gun around in my hand.

As you've found, the Berettas are set up from the factory for the #3 (dot on the target, posts lined up horizontally) sight picture.

It's also not uncommon to hear people say they are having a problem hitting low and left (but you seem to be missing the left part of that equation). What I've found is that I squeezed the grip too hard or screwed up my trigger squeeze if I'm shooting low and left.
