.22 exchange kit for P228, thoughts??

was looking at a few .22 pistol options and I remember that sig makes a drop in/on conversion kit.

I have an older P228, west german manufacture. I love it. them damn germans, panzer tanks and porsches. man they can make s*** well.

want to ease my son into it (not ready for .45!!) and this could help. plus be a helluva lot of fun as well, and cheaper too.

anyone have one? thoughts? thanks!!

I played with one for the no railed frame. Shot great but it scratched up the finish on the frame rails.

I've used one a 220 and several 226s (both R and ST) and have been very happy.

I haven't seen any that scratched the frame rails...I believe the finish of the alloy of the frame is harder that on the slide...but, then all the ones I've shot have been well lubed.

If you get one, follow the factory recommendation to at least start with CCI MiniMags

Because of the smaller recoil impulse of the RF cartridge and the smaller surface area it has to impart that force to the breachface

Have one for my 226, very happy with it. Great trainer for me and the kid. I never ran the cci mini mags thru it, worked well with standard velocity, 40gr round nose and lubed rails.

thanks. not very available right now. was just wondering if should one come in stock to jump on it. I also like the idea of multi-cal guns. besides, everything sig makes is great. they don't put out crap.

At $285 a pop for the kit, why not just consider the SIG Mosquito? Turner's has been selling them for $319 recently. They handle very well, are very accurate and reliable.

I have a kit I ordered directly from SIG running on my W. German P228. Works great when lubed up and running quality ammo.

I hated it at first because I was getting 3 ftf per mag. Then I saw people saying you have to break it in. After about 150rds, I've only been getting 1 ftf per 3rd mag so it's much better. I'm only listing mine to clear space for scopes otherwise I'd keep it and my P228 is now a safe queen. The positive is that my grip stays the same with the pistol shooting the 9mm.
