Today I went and DROSed a Springfield Professional with the Nowlin Barrel for my son. It was one of the two guns I got him for his graduation, the other being a LMT MWS. These were his two dream guns, and I told him if he maintains his 4.32 GPA he can get them.
I just need to wait for a few more weeks until he graduates in early June. The fit on the Pro is incredible, all parts are fitted perfectly. I think I now know why Springfield was able to win the FBI Test for a 1911 for their SWAT and HRT Teams. The Pro was speced to shoot 1.5 inch 25 yard groups with the FBI load of Remington 230 grain Golden Sabre's. The Pro has a slide hand fitted to a National Match frame. It also has a hand fitted Nowlin match barrel and bushing, blended S&A mag well, ambi safety's and the whole gun is finished with Birdsong's Black T. It also has Novak night sites and 20 lines to inch checkering on the front strap and mainspring housing. So basically you have a hand made 1911 from Springfields Custom Shop whose main gunsmiths are members of the American Pistolsmiths Guild.
Now here are some quick pictures I took before the gun went to jail. I'll be taking some better pictures once it gets out. I figured crappy pictures would be better than none. So here you go..
