    Buying Guns On Consignment, HELP!!!

How do the waiting periods work while buying guns on consignment work?

I bought a Glock last month and it has not been 30 days. (not consignment)

About 20 days ago, I impulse bought a Makarov on consignment.

Today I impulse bought a Springfield 1911 that was on consignment. And I have a PPT tomorrow for a Ruger.

Did I just flag myself with the DOJ or are PPT/Consignment purchases exempt from the 30 day rule? Thanks!!!

Standard PPT/Consignment are exempt from the 30 days. The only difference is that you still have to pay sales tax on a consignment sale.

Consignment is just like you bought it new from the gun store. even pay sales tax hence only one of those every 30 days and as much ppt's a month as you like. Both the Mak and spring will most likely get DROS rejected. Go do your ppt tomorrow thats should be ok.

Have to disagree on this. Consignment is more like PPT than DROS. I made 2 transactions this way in January of this year while I had one within 30 days for DROS.

Yes you do pay sales tax but no "hence" only one every 30 days. As always, consult DOJ and your local FFL but that is what my experience has been.

Thanks guys, I'm hoping they do not get rejected. If they do, what next? I pay DROS again?? :\

I hope you are wrong, SFOGUN. Thanks for the input.

BTM, that's what I thought. But when I was driving home, I kept thinking, "Did I just **** myself with all these purchases?"

Based on my experience a few months ago, consignments are treated like PPT's. Therefore, they are NOT treated like new handguns wherein you are limited to 1 new handgun every 30 days (assuming you are not exempt of course). My DROS went well and I was able to get two handguns (one brand new and one via consignment) within a span of a few days.

Now, check your bank account/credit card statement(s) to answer your question: "Did I just **** myself with all these purchases?"

              You'll be fine brother. Enjoy!

Consignment counts as ppt, although you will pay tax on it. I believe there is a special retarded law that only apllied if you buy a consignment handgun in LA City. I think it does count toward the 1 in 30 days limit, but I don't know how it applies if your second purchase is outside the city.

I've bought Consignments. Work just as PPT only yes its a sales tax situation.
PPT's don't generally count on the 30 day. I don't know about LA

Yes, LA City is a special kind of stupid. Just checked the calguns wiki- only 1 handgun purchase every 30 days, including ppt. I don't know how they check, or how it applies to a ppt you made outside the city, or if it makes a difference in what order you made the purchase.

Hmm, I am in San Diego. So looks like I am in the clear. That's the general consensus, right?

Yep, no prob in San Diego. Buy all the consignment and ppt you can afford.

I bought one on consignment and then another new one within 30 days and didn't get rejected so you should be fine.

Consignment is like PPT. As long as the FFL writes up the DROS the correct way.
