    New Smith and Wessons

I have a question for any of you S&W fans out there. I have seen some S&Ws semi autos that are not 1911s or M&Ps. I looked on there web site and it does not apear that these are made any more. Models like the 4006.
Is it possible to buy these new anymore? I live in OC and would like to get my hands on one either in 9mm, 40 or .45. I am not really interested in the 1911 or the M&P at this time (just bought a 1911 RIA) and I really like the Glock better than the M&P.

It's on the CA DOJ roster, just keep an eye on the classifieds and various forums as well as gunbroker.com and gunsamerica.com

FS: Atlas Bipod, Custom G23 RMR slide, ETS mags, Jagerwerks, Recover G26/27, CZ Scorpion bits, etc.

I have a 4506 that I bought a long time ago. It's a nice weapon. A little heavy to CCW IMO, but shoots very nice.

If you are luck enough to CCW in CA I don't think you have a problem with the wieght of the gun you are carrying. I had a parking ticket 19 years ago, I do not qualify for a CCW for personal protection against anyone. I am lucky to be able to carry my Gerber, Bowie knife with me in my glove box and a pocket knife.

At home I always carry a gun tho.

I think the S&W 4566 is still in production and maybe some variants. The thing is, it's DA/SA so I'm not sure if you into that.

I am in fact a fan of SA/DA pistols. I have had Sigs and CZs before and they were all SA/DA. Thinking of getting a P95 soon if I am not able to locate a a S&W that I like, New.

4006 is out of production, I just gave my son in law mine for his birthday. I have seen a few around and there was one listed here a week or so ago.

I have a 4006, and love the weight and feel. Fairly accurate. They were the pistols that the CHP went to in the early 90's. There should be a lot of them around in used condition. Keep checking the auction sites.

There were several 3rd gen smiths in the market place recently. I rarely see them in gun stores here in san diego. still looking for my 2206. From your OP you would be looking for 5906, 4006, 4506, the 4566 is nice too.
