    HK45 Project Background

I understand this pistol and it's compact variant are not commercially available in the state of CA. However, they are legal to own. I knew the pistol was entered in the Joint Combat Pistol (JCP) program which was quickly scrapped. That's about the extent of the history I knew. However, I did a little more digging into the actual development of the pistol, and I found some really profound information in my opinion.

    FYI.
The H&K HK-45CT was adopted by US SOCOM as the Mark 24 Mod 0 and replaced the Mark 23 Mod 0 (H&K Mark 23).

    SEAL with Mk 24 Mod 0 (H&K HK-485CT) and Mk 17 Mod 0 (FNH SCAR-H).

Well, I think it mostly has to do with the comparative difficulty of the 1911 to support as a platform. A lot of top tier units that have the funding still run 1911's.

Also, HK45 and the 45c are available commercially in CA.

PS the grip on the 45c is so much nicer than the spiderman on the full size.

Larry Vickers used to be the chief instructor of the Army's 1st SFOD-D.His point is that a 1911 user must be their own armorer to an extent, and I've no reason to doubt that outlook for a second.

Remember that a soldier in his old line of work did NOT have the option to box up a malfunctioning 1911 for shipment to the factory.
For us low speed high drag folk,a 1911 isn't a bad choice.Things change when you're by yourself in a foreign country so far undercover youll be disavowed if things go pear shaped.

The more subsidies you have, the less self reliant people will be.

The 1911 may have been in wars for 100 years, but Masetro Bartolomeo Beretta was arming the world 400 years before John Browning was ever a wet dream.

Silver, I think we more or less agree.

Search button is your friend. Probably out of stock now, they may have read the article you posted and sold out.

I'm glad I didn't have to bother with that SSE business.

Must be why SFOD-D switch to Glocks about 5 years ago.

It's not a big deal really.

Why do you find it profound?

There really isn't anything that deep about it...it is interesting, but no huge revelation. This is more then two years old...I remember reading it in a magazine; and I haven't bought one in quite a while.

I didn't think it it was a big secret that H&K marketing research determined that they couldn't profitably sell a H&K manufactured 1911 in the US market or that the H&K P30 and HK45 were designed as replacements for the USP

Why is it a big deal? People buy them every day.
