    Colt 1911 help

Alright so my cousin just hit me up with some info that his bosses friend up north is selling a garand and a colt 1911 for almost nothing. My cousin is tight on money or else her take it..

I personally think for the price these might be hot or broken or someone who doesn't know what they have.. Like at all..

Anyways my cousin is working on info and pics I have a decent idea of 1911s but for colts what are the MAIN things to check when buying one.. I want to check and make sure this things in functioning condition and on the up and up so I know if I'm buying parts with another $600 in repairs or actually looking at a once in a life time chance.

I'm going to do the obvious pitting, scratches, cracks like any hand gun I'd pick up. But what are the must sees or knows about a colt 1911.. What would you make sure you checked before even thinking of buying?

On a side if you know a ton about garands same applies.. What are the just look ats or special or problem areas for these guns?

Again not my first rodeo but the price has me suspicious and colts and garands aren't my specialties
