May 7th, 2008 - Makarov.com is sorry to announce that we will be closing our "Doors" for good. We have been on the Internet for 16 years now, from humble beginnings in a Townhouse Basement, to a Full service Retail Store and Gunshop, and back to Mail Order only again. We would like to say now, a big Thank You to our loyal customers that have been with us from the beginning, and to all of the new customers who have joined the Ranks of the Makarovniks over the years.

Yes they are, and YES you should buy one.

Ive owned and shot many many guns. Out of ALL of them my makarov is the ONLY gun Ive EVER fired that has NEVER had a Fail to fire, fail to extract or any other "malfunction"

I have over 4500rds thru it w/out a single hiccup. It has a 19# spring in it, and I lightened the trigger/hammer spring by thinning it out with a sanding drum. The trigger pull is easily 1/2 what it was, with no grit....

I use the Pearce grip on it, which is a great improvement.

It will shoot/feed ANY type of 9x18 Ive ever fed it, but it groups and shoots best with 95gr.... I like to stagger FMJ/HP so it has a FMJ in the chamber, then HP/FMJ/HP/FMJ/HP/FMJ/HP/FMJ in the magazine, all 95gr and usually Silver Bear or Barnaul.

Believe it or not CCI Blazer 9x18 aluminum case 95gr ammo is the hottest stuff Ive chrono'd out of my Mak. IIRC it was at 1080FPS where the russian stuff was closer to 990-1010FPS. I wish you could get an 80-ish grain bullet for it.

Same here. The MAK is the only gun I've ever known to really have a 100% rate of reliability. Are they actually gone or going gone? I need to pick up a few remaining parts form them.

My maks hate hollow points with a passion, that being said I have complete faith in the Makarov style of guns.

Makarovs are nicely made, and shoot well.
I personally have never had any issues with mine.
