CZ back from Cajun Gun Works

I recently sent my CZ over to David at Cajun Gun Works to have some trigger work done and thought I would share my experience for those who may be considering doing something similar to their CZ.

I had numerous email exchanges with David prior to sending my 75b SA 9mm to him and he was always quick to respond which was greatly appreciated... I explained to him that the pistol was purely a range toy, and that I basically wanted the best trigger possible out of the 75b SA. The prescription was simple..."get the CGW Race Hammer, and Spring Kit"...

I had also requested that the FPB be removed to minimize the reset even further and opted to use a CZ custom SAO flat trigger. I sent the pistol in on 4/17 and was given a 3 week ETA. Fast forward 3 weeks and I get a call that the pistol is on its way back...It's always great when things are on schedule as promised.

Took the pistol out to the range and wow that trigger is amazing! Everything I expected and more....I cant believe I waited this long to have the work done. The trigger breaks at 3lbs and feels like glass and the reset is close to nothing ...Feels as good as any other high end 1911 that I have had a pleasure to shoot. I highly recommend CGW if you are thinking about trigger work on your CZ. David is a great guy to deal with, and sticks to his word.

very nice looking. I too, had a great experience with CGW. I did the work myself on the SD Kit which was a race hammer, extended firing pin block, and springs change. I had a hard time with the solid firing pin retaining pin and I sent both my SP-01 and P-01 upper section to David. Within a week, he had the pin installed at no charge, only the shipping was required. I even tried to pay him and he would not accept my money. Upstanding guy.

I am thinking of making my SP-01 a range pistol only as well and am thinking of doing a SA trigger or at minimum, adding competition sites. My P-01 will serve as the "SD/Home defense" firearm.

Angus Hobdell has done drop tests with the fpb removed and not a single discharge occurred. I removed the fpb on my SP-01. Once I replaced the fpb lever with David's spacer and removed the disconnector it resets as soon as I release the trigger. Feels like 1/8-1/16". I'm running the 11lb hammer spring with the extended firing pin, lightened fp spring and haven't had one light strike using factory ammo.

Thanks guys! I'm already planning on sending my SP01 in too....This was my first time sending a firearm off to have work done, and I was glad that the experience was a good one. I highly recommend CGW.

I agree...after hearing Angus's point of view on the FPB, I felt much more comfortable removing it. Although, if I ever find myself in a SD situation, I'm reaching for my good ole' 45

If it wasn't for those damn USPSA rules, I'd pop my FPB out also.

I have a SP-01 (firing pin block) and a Shadow (no firing pin block). Both guns have been customized by Matt Mink. To be honest I can't tell the difference between the two after the buzzer goes off (USPSA).

I recently got the short reset trigger by Angus on the Shadow. OK....Now we're talking about a difference.

I'm a CZ fan and I've heard very good things about CGW. I like the OP's gun a lot.

I like it. Pure and simple range toy with a great trigger, no goofy rails, crap hanging off of it, or anything unnecessary. I would love to see some good checkering and aesthetic goodies, but it looks pretty much perfect.

The sights are from CZ customs. I had them installed before the pistol was shipped to me. The rear is the tactical version, and the front is fiber optic, specs are 1.0 x 6.5. I really like the small front sight, it's very easy to pick up and doesn't cover your entire target, it works well for me. Stuart at cz customs recommended the sizing to me.

The pistol is way more accurate then I. Even with my poor skills I managed my personal best groups and was hitting head shots at 25 yards no problem. The trigger is just plain amazing. By far my favorite pistol in the safe.
