    .22 rimfire with kick

    Hey fellas,

I am looking for a .22 practice gun but I want it to kick, well I mean as much as a .22 can. Not a scope mounted super target gun, a plain jane mimics the feel of a normal everyday handgun. I want it to be practice not only for trigger/breathing/etc. control but also for re-aquiring target. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

.22lr doesn't really have enough power to kick, your only option would be to find an extremely lightweight handgun and even then it probably wouldn't kick that much - and would be so small that it would be difficult to practice your other skills (think 22lr derringer - imagine the sight picture/trigger on that!), probably best to use a .22lr to practice the basics then move up to a larger caliber if you want to practice reacquiring your sight picture.

22 Magnum pistols will give a little more recoil.

          Beat me to it...

22 WMR (Winchester Magnum Rimfire). Longer case than the 22lr's. Not as cheap as the 22lr's though.

If you can find them... the 60 gr Aguila (Aquila?) Sniper Sub Sonic ammo kicks a bit more than regular 40 gr LR ammo. I bought a few bricks over the years and they were quite accurate but pricey. These days I'd figure they would be $50/500.. A few years back they were $34/500.

You need a Colt Ace .22 conversion. The Colt unit has a floating chamber that actually increases felt recoil. It feels a little wierd because the recoil impulse is delayed by a microsecond. If you have a 1911, this is what you want.

A .22lr is typically chosen for it's low recoil and inexpensive cost, which makes for a wonderful training tool.

Wanting to increase the recoil is an odd thing to do. Maybe put a compensator on the end of the muzzle but turn it upside down?

Have someone hit you everytime you pull the trigger. LOL
I don't think there is a 22LR that does kick.

If I shoot some Stingers out of my Buckmark, there is noticeable recoil.

That was a good laugh....my reasoning is I want to be able to continue shooting say ~500 rounds a month without killing my wallet and I am of the opinion, although I may be wrong as I am not a black belt in gunfu, that a 22 will not help me with precise rapid fire as the kick is non existant so I want to get a 22 (its cheap) that kicks (so I actually have to recover for followups). Am I way off here?

                          Thanks

                            P-22

Walther P-22 has recoil, light weight, use hot ammo, or just fed wal mart pack, plenty of power, good training

Shooting a 22 will improve your marksmanship. Just concentrate on the front sight, trigger work and everything should come together. The rest is all muscle memory.
