    P226 vs P226 MK-25

I'm looking at the P226 and the P226 MK-25 (CA compliant model).

Besides the anti-rust coating on some parts on the MK-25, are there any other differences that I'm missing?

    Thank you,

Other than what you noted, I believe they're exactly the same.

MK25 Rail has a true Picatinny Rail

The rails are different. If you look at the standard rail on P226 it is rounded even the P226 navy has standard rail. MK25 is true picatinny rail. Not many holsters are available. But Raven Concealment has one.

OP: The MK come with night sights. I'm told by some that the night sights do not glow as bright as what they did 20 years ago. If anyone else can confirm that would be interesting.

Depending on the price of the day and how good of a deal you find. A regular 226R without night sights may be close to the MK in price, enough to make the MK the better deal. The cheap bar code sticker will fall off so take care of it.

I've been searching high and low for an MK-25 that isn't marked up an extra $300 like the ones in our marketplace.

Since the MK-25 is on the CA DOJ approved roster of handguns, does that mean we can get the non-CA version without going through an SSE? Quite honestly, I think the CA model is hideous.

Nope - only the model on the roster is allowed unless its a PPT or SSE.

That's what I was wondering though, the DOJ roster model does not say "CA" anywhere but on Sig Sauer's site it's listed as "MK-25-CA".

                      DOJ has it listed as:
P226 MK-25 Navy Version ( Black) / Stainless Steel; Alloy

                      Link to DOJ roster:

The ONLY reason to pick the MK25 over the standard 226 is the extractor... MK25's still come with the SHORT external extractor which has been 100% from day one.
New "regular" 226's have that god awful long extractor that likes to break.
