    SIG Short Reset Trigger (SRT)

Installed the SRT kit I bought from Midway/USA in my Sig 226 today. Wow.....What a difference. Have had my W. German made 226 since 1988 and although I was aware of these SRT kits for the last few years, never figured I really needed one. Before there was approx 1/2" of travel for the trigger to reset. Now with the kit installed, the trigger resets itself as soon as I release pressure. Install was easy enough and was complete in less than 30 minutes. Amazing! Now I'm kicking myself for not buying the kit earlier.

Good to know as I've wanted to get one for my 226 Navy. I hate the stock trigger on it and find it hard to believe that the SEALS keep the stock trigger either.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

I had installed one for my P229 and it's a dramatic reduction which seems at minimum 1/8" if not less from release to the reset point. I put in the SRS kit from Cajun Gun works on my SP-01 Tactical and although it cut it in half the Sig SRT has reduced the reset substantially more.

Is it pretty easy to install yourself or do you recommend getting a Sig Armorer to install it?

Crap, now I better get one on my P226 and P228.

Installation is not terribly difficult for one with some knowledge of firearms disassembly/reassembly and a few simple tools. There are a couple YouTube videos on the subject for guidance. For someone not comfortable with working on their pistol then yes, I would recommend install by the factory or an Sig Armorer.

The Short Reset Trigger is a great thing to have, enough that the new M11-A1 (P228 reborn) comes with the SRT standard. I love it on my P229.

OP, some people say a great combination is the SRT with the new E2 grips. The E2 kit for the P226 is a little more plentiful than the P229. It involves a hammer spring upgrade and new decocker lever, and installation is fast and simple.

Damn, I just had my German P226 to the factory for the full package, now I regret not having the SRT installed. Now I gotta do it.

The next upgrade for both of my P226s will be a SRT.

I'm only moderately experienced when it comes to tinkering with my guns, but the SRT install is pretty easy. I've done it on 3 sigs now, and I think between that and changing out the hammer spring, they make a big difference. Here is a great thread on the install, complete with pics.

I picked up my 226 used and it came from the factory with the srt and the e2 grip. It is a pleasure to shoot.

I just put the SRT in my p229 last month. Makes a world of difference. The reset is the same or better than a Glock. IMHO its worth every penny spent on it.
