Back in December, right after Sandy Hook, I was at Gander Mountain with a buddy and they had full shelves of ammo. I looked at the 100 round boxes of Federal .223 and bought one box because I thought I might need it. If I knew then what I know now I would have bought as much as I could carry. Just a week or two later I was already seeing that I'd made a mistake.

Alas, I had just started shooting in August and wasn't aware of how these things worked. (To be fair, I still read that this is the worst it's ever been in terms of ammo.)

      Hindsight is 20/20 unfortunately.

I bought some Freedom Munitions in 9mm, but haven't tested it out yet. Slightly cheaper than the reloads at the range I go to.

The cost of ammo isn't going to go back down. It's basically going to emulate gas prices. There's demand. People keep buying at the prices set. So why bother lowering prices?

Put your email in for notifications at Midway if you haven't done so already. They seem to be receiving factory ammo at "normal" prices. I ordered 500 rds of Fiochi 9mm ball for $150 shipped to San Diego. Cost was 12.99 per box, and the difference was shipping. They also received several lots of federal ammo as i got noticices on both 9mm an .223/5.56. $180 does seem high for remanufactured ammo, but at least it is available

                  +1 for freedom munitions.
I've only tried the 9mm but also have heard good things about all calibers, from the "blaster" ammo to the "new" ammo

Wow, these are like the lrice of snap caps. What's going on in the world. For the record, I'm more pissed that snap caps/fake bullets are so expensive.

forget reloads. I used to pay $220 for 1k rounds of Speer Lawman or S&B shipped to my door.

I used to go to school and play with my friends all day and did not have to work....

Now we just have to deal with it
