I bought a sig sauer p226 extreme. It looks good but I want to add a beaver tail, can you do this? If so, will any beaver tail work, and where can I buy the piece?

Can you add a beaver tail to a sig p226?

No you can not. Beaver tails on 1911's are part of the grip safety and thus can easily be replaced. On a sig they will not only do nothing for recoil control but they are part of the frame. You would need a new frame to add one. Since sigs don't hammer bite and from what I've heard regarding the effectiveness of the beaver tails on sigs that have them, I would steer clear of that idea.
Other things like an srt trigger kit would be a much better modification. Good choice on pistol though! -
If you really want one, it would have to be welded on and shaped by hand with a file. It would be cheaper to by a new gun with a beavertail already formed with the frame...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

This is the answer.
Also, this reminds me of how beautiful the GGI hardtail conversions are on 1911's.WTS all BNIB: Colt S70 Repro, HK45c, Gen4 G19Comment

With sufficient funds, anything is possible . The old P210 were notorious for biting. This company made an aftermarket for them:
A similar approach could be taken. Possibly a simple 3D printed part.Comment

The issue with this is that most sig frames are aluminum, and you need someone really good at welding aluminum to add the material without putting holes in your frame.Comment
