    9mm revolver

I'm considering buying a revolver one of these days. I'm looking at a 9mm only because I don't want to start collecting another caliber (already have 9 and 45).

Does anyone have experience with 9mm revolvers and what do you think of it. Pros/Conz?

    They very expensive.

Ruger SP101's are going for nearly $1000 on gunbroker. S&W 547's are going for near $1500. Manchurin MR73's are $3000. Freedom Arms Model 97's are $2500.

They are interesting in that you get 38 Special mildness with no powder positioning issues due to the 9's small case capacity. Neat!

    Good Luck.

If you can find a S&W 940 in 3", you will probably pay $1,500.

Ruger made the Speed Six in 9mm in both stainless and blued.

I like mine. Looks like a small Redhawk.

Have you considered a Taurus model 905? I know alot of folks don't like the "T" brand around here, but I have had no issues. Love my 905. Found it in the classifieds on this board. What about the Charter Arms Pitbull in 9mm? Either would be less than $500. Just a couple more options for you.

I just sold my Smith & Wesson 940 to a fellow Calgunner. I wasn't too fond of it. To me it seemed to have a snappier recoil than my 10mm's.

Since you shoot 45 also take a look at the S&W 625.

Both will require moon clips. A moon clip tool is really handy to have when using moonies.

A S&W Model 625 shoots 45 acp and will prolly be easier to locate than a 9mm revolver. A little less costly too.

Thumbs up on the 625, I just bought one and love it. Right now, 9mm costs more than .45 ACP and .45 ACP is more available.

I have been interested in a 9mm revolver also and after some research it seems like the easiest and probably cheapest way would be to get it converted.

Buy a .357 due to the high pressure of 9mm and either get the cylinder rechambered to 9mm or get a new cylinder and have it rechambered and fit to the revolver. Check out: http://www.pinnacle-guns.com/revolver.asp

I used to be all about the 9mm revolver.. but ever since I took up reloading.. that interest pretty much dissolved. I see no real advantage other than common calibers of existing guns over having a 38/357. Most of them require moonclips, which is a turn off for me when it comes to revolvers. I know they're the fastest means of getting fresh cartridges in your cylinder.. but I like having the inherent mechanical advantage a revolver has over most semis by not needing an additional magazine/clip to load cartridges.
