I had the same problem with a S.A. Loaded 1911, although not as pronounced. I was able to use a file and remove the step. The problem with yours is that the extra lip may affect the headspace. Give it back to S&W.

Might have been a goof up with the CNC computer or tooling. I wonder if they have a batch of pistols with that flaw...
