    bulk ammo and the malfunction

    Hi all,
Long time reader, second time poster, etc etc.

So, this weekend I went to the Cow Palace gun show and bought 1000 rounds of loadxammo (www.loadxammo.com)
    .45 ACP/ 230 grain
Before buying I asked around and got a very positive response about their loads.
    Fast forward to the range.
My pistol is an HK USP .45, which I've fired thousands and thousands of rounds through, including Blazer (aluminum casing)
    Anyway, magazine one: Great
    Magazine two: Great
    Magazine three: Feed Malfunction.

I've never, ever had a feed malfunction in this pistol.

Anyway, I ended up with four feed malfunctions using the loadXammo, and as a test, I was loading my standard factory loads right after and had no malfunctions.

Several of the folks at the range all had their varying opinions on it, but I thought I'd put it before the crowd here, as I generally find all the information here extremely valuable.

    Thanks.

I am assuming that the 4 malfuctions were not all with the same mag right?

No, that was my first thought, that maybe one of the mags was being testy.
I had a series later of first mag: feed jam on round seven, second mag: all rounds cleared, third mag: feed jam on round four.

This could turn out to be an annoying 1000 rounds to go through.

I would go ahead and try it again with factory ammo and see if it does it with factory ammo and if it does'nt I would go ahead and sell the ammo that you bought at the gun show or just use it for plinking... Other than that, don't really know what to tell you..

No problem, I figured it wasn't as simple as "Oh! Flip the XYZ button and viola!"

I'll run about 100 rounds of factory tomorrow, and then 100 of the loads and see what's what.
I might, just for the S**ts and grins of it, rent a 1911 from the range and see what they do to that.

Prices on AMMO must be pretty bad for people to start taking dibbs on reloaded ammo

Get a case gauge and check the OAL (1.2-1.25) yourself. If it is ammo related that will tell you if something is wrong. If the ammo is at fault they should return it for you.

I have a bunch of the Load-X .45 ACP ammo that I shoot in my Ruger Blackhawk convertible. Have never had any problems with it.

Apologies for posting this again, but I am not a fan of Load X. Bought some at a local indoor range long ago, when I was taking a group of people out to the range. Someone was shooting, when they noticed a misfeed. I was called over to diagnose and help. A round wasn't chambering, so I ejected the mag and racked the slide, and found a barrel obstruction. One of the rounds, I'm guessing, was a squib, and there was a bullet lodged in the barrel just a little bit past the chamber. Hammered it out, and finished the session without any further issues.

Bottom line though, I'm sure glad the stuck bullet stopped another round from chambering, else who knows what would have happened??
