The OP, imarangemaster, may recognise his MSH on my FS Tactical. The USGI plastic grips were off eBay.

The MSH dropped straight in. The left grip had to have a bit of plastic shaved from the inside at the top to fit over the safety/slide detent.

Just need some 45 auto and some time to go to the range.

I had to do the same to my USGI grips. I believe the RI spring housing for safety and slide stop is larger than USGI. Glad the MSH worked for you. Thanks again!

This thing even feeds CCI .45 ACP snake shot. I just killed a 5' Timber Rattler with 11 buttons that was between me and the dam I had to check on. I saw him, unloaded the chamber and mag with Hornady Critical Duty 220 +P, and loaded my mag of 45 snake shot. Chambered a round, shot three times (big snake) and it cycled the action fine. If it cycles and feeds snake shot, it will feed anything!

Here's the Rock Island in its final incarnation with lanyard ring and duty rig.

Really like what you did with your RI 1911A1.

I had to comment on snake shot. I reload them for 38 and 44 but for 45 and 22 I buy the CCI too. Very handy around barns and out buildings. You had great situational awareness.

                  Thanks for sharing

Thanks. I am very aware of snakes. For about 7 years, I had 20 acres outside of Grass Valley that was surrounded by about 1000 acres of BLM land. I killed 2 to 3 rattlers a month there in our compound with the houses on it. I am sure there is a "wanted dead or alive" poster for me in rattlesnake heaven!

Great job and looks very original as in WWII 1911. Can't do much about the scalloped ejection port.

I'm glad someone pointed me to this thread as i'm planning the same mods as discussed in my thread.
I noted that you picked up the arched MSH from Auto Ordnance and checked out their website. Wondering if used the arched MSH from their 1911PKZSE and if the wide spur hammer will also fit and drop right in? Also noticed they had the plastic GI grips available. Thanks in advance.

Here's a link to the Auto Ordnance parts I used. There is a tab on the page for frame parts. My hammer is a USGI, but the Auto Ordnance one should drop in too.

Makes me wish I had kept my RIA Match. Was a sweet gun, should not have sold it.
