FN 5.7 Education & Mis-conception

One big difference between the USSS and civilians is that the Feds get to use the "real" AP combat ammo where we have to make do with substantially less effective "sporting" bullets.

The Ft. Hood massacre did, however, establish that the gun was "reasonable effective for its intended purpose."

The Secret Service standard issue handgun is a SIG 229 in .357SIG, so I assume that the FN 5.7 is simply a supplemental weapon for use in special risk situations.

All the FT Hood incident proves is that mastery of your shooting platform counts more then what platform it is.

The spree killer bought and shot thousands of rounds of 5.7 ammo before going on his rampage.When you have that much practice behind the platform,you will be quite deadly,especially against unarmed opposition or responding LE who might have 100 rounds downrange in the last month.Unlike us dedicated folk who have the inclination and time to blow 1000 + rounds on ammo,public agencies flatly cannot afford that kind of training.

Had Hassan bought a 92FS and shot 5000 rounds of 9mm instead,the outcome might have actually been WORSE.

Nothing wrong with trying to help...If help was asked for...Just don't try to cram things down people's throats and your input is going to be widely received as simply, your opinion...That is unless you are an expert and hold credentials of some sort?

Then you should say this to almost everyone who has some opinion on all the discussions because it's all over this site if you haven't noticed. And this was a result of many people asking but I do understand your point. Thanks.

something small like the 5.7 wouldnt be my first choice but if its all i had i wouldnt feel defenseless

if i ran out of .45 mags or couldnt get to the .45 for some reason id feel pretty comfortable with my ruger mkiii for a HD scenario as i can put the 10 rounds of .22 in a heart sized pattern from 15 feet in a second or two

If you like the FN Five-Seven, that's great. Not everyone is going to like it, and like every weapon, along with it's advantages, it's also going to have has it's deficiencies.
