    Glock 19 Impulse Buy

Walked into the LGS and they had some nice things on Display. I was really looking for a .22 to buy because it's cheaper to shoot and good to practice with but they didn't have anything in that caliber. They had a nice Sig Tacops 1911 in black but I want my first 1911 to be in stainless and they also had a Beautiful 1911 Springfield TRP in black but that was out of my spending budget. I couldn't resist and ended up buying that Glock 19. 10 more day to go and it's mine.

Is there anything I should know or should do before firing it? I plan on buying some grip tape or something of that nature. The grip angle feels fine but does feel a bit on the slippery side. Any sugestions?

LoneWolf QwikGrip, I have been running these since 1992. Should you do anything before shooting it? Yes, load your magazines.. If you wanted to, but you don't have to, one drop of lube on the frame rails, trigger cruciform/connector interface, 3 drops on the barrel hood and barrel OD at the muzzle end, shoot at least 5,000 rounds, then lube again. Each of these G17's have around 75,000 rounds thru them.

You don't reload?? 5,000 rounds is barely 4 months worth of matches.

Keep it all stock practice with it first .... Clean it before you shoot. Very accurate and you will live it

Thanks, I got about 1000 rounds stored of 9mm. So between my XD9 and the Glock 19, those 1000 rounds should last about half an hour. lol

New sights. I love my Glocks, but the stock sights are not very good......

What to do during the 10-day wait? Put that TRP on layaway!

Maybe get extra mags? Don't change anything yet. Try it out for a few hundred rounds (should be quick) and assess after.

If that TRP was stainless, that would have been a no brainer. I just came back from the gun shop for a second time to show my 2nd proof of residency and now they also.have a p226. Felt like i was candy shop.

                    Don't do anything to it.....

                    Ammo is expensive enough.
Learn to shoot it stock. It's an amazing firearm right out the box. Make sure there isn't anything stuck in the barrel and shoot!

On my new G19, the last round of HP was getting stuck trying to load into the chamber. I spoke to Glock, and they sent me 4 new followers for my mags. I shoot tonight to find out if it cures the problem. All 4 of my mags had the 2183 followers in them. Glock sent me out #3's for free.

                        Good luck!

Since you're looking for a .22, get a .22 conversion kit for it.

I was just looking at reviews of the Advantage arms conversion kit on youtube. The reviews say that its picky with ammo. If i can find one for a good price I might just buy one.

OP, no love for the Armory Kote TRP? Or no love for it yet? The stainless is pretty indeed. I just happen to prefer the Armory Kote myself Enjoy the G19!
