    Glock "situation"

I wanted to get some feedback from the members here....

The other night I was dry firing my Glock 21 when the feel and sound changed a bit..I think I'll have to re-evaluate whether or not dry firing any firearm is a good thing to do

    Has anyone else experienced this?

Oh Crap, I have never seen that before. How much do you dry fire?
I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

I seriously doubt dryfiring caused that. Looks like the integrity of the breechface was questionable. Have there been any problems w/ the gun previously?

Holy Crap... I've probably dry fired mine a few thousand times with out that happening... how many rounds through that guy?

I definitely want to hear what Glock has to say about this

I can assure you that was not due to dry-firing your weapon. That looks like a serious problem that Glock should investigate.

Please share what generation G21 that is. I have one of the early G21 w/o the finger grooved grips. When something like that happens it definitely needs to get looked at.

                Hello, Gaston?

That's insane; How old and how many rounds is what I'd like to know? Not that it should matter...

I've had the gun since 1997, and conservatively would say there's between 25k to 30K rounds through the thing, with dry firing at least that amount. Been through numerous three and five day courses with the gun and have never had any problem of any sort at all. For some reason, this particular 21 was amazingly accurate.

Haven't called Glock yet, but it's my understanding they will not sell a new slide to me. I blew up another Glock 21 I had (my fault, double charged reload) and Glock replaced it with a "new" one for $300. Unfortunately, it never shot as well as this one, and I ended up selling it.

At any rate, in case Glock says to send it in and they'll replace it for a discounted price as they did with the last one, I'd think I'd pass in light of the previous experience.

For some reason, I was thinking reloads. How hot do you loads your .45's? Did you notice anything strange w/ the spent brass? Whatever the case, I hope Glock takes care of you.

Thinking about it in retrospect, you're right, I am glad it happened during dry firing. I'd probably look like one of those cartoon charactors with the blackened face and fried hair!

The majority of the rounds through this gun were factory loads. The reloads were pretty mild...5.5 gr Unique/230FMJ

That is a serious malfunction and is definately not from dry firing.
