    CZ P-06 comment on experiences

I'll be getting my CZ P-06 out this Thursday and want to hear about any owner's experiences with this. It is modeled after the P-06. The manufacturer's description says it's interchangeable with the P-01 but some accounts of owner's that have both say they have different dimensions in the slide width and possibly in other areas. I'll be putting in a DPM recoil reduction 3 spring rod assembly in there to soften up the recoil of the 40sw round in a compact which I also have in my P229. I'd like to compare the CZ and the Sig in this caliber both being compacts.

I'm sure that fits fine in both guns, but it's slightly odd that it's the same springs. The recoil energy of 9mm is different from .40 and usually a manufacturer would use stiffer springs for the .40.

I had a P-06 for a while but never took measurements to compare to my P-01 -- spring, frame, etc, never measured it.

Well the longer spring is for 40 or +p ammo.

I owned one a few years back. It did not work for me. I carry IWB, it was not a comfortable carry. I think it had to do with the rail and barrel length. I also did not care for the CZ mags, a subcompact gun and the mags have a giant thick mag base, crazy also would not lock back half the time.
It was still pretty new to the market when I had mine, so there is a good chance CZ squared their mags away. I carry .40 compacts and sub compacts regularly and don't find the round to have excessive recoil.
Hope the gun works out for you, not dogging your new gun at all. What works and don't work for me will be different for you.

CZ has lots of different mag bases and you can swap between them if you want. Everything from thin, flush-fitting steel to large rubber deals. What comes with the guns varies, but if you're in CA then it limits your options in terms of what factory mags come with it.

The slide lock is in a position where a lot of shooters naturally rest their left thumb on it if you shoot thumbs-forwards. It's actually a really good spot to put your thumb on purpose, unless of course you're particularly concerned with the slide locking back.

Negative, I was not riding the slide stop. When I bought my P-06 new, those were the only mags CZ made for the P06. Plenty of low profile mag Base for the 9mm, squat for the .40. Like I said I'm sure there are plenty now but back then zip, zero, nada.

I brought it home and my P-01 slide fits onto the P-06 frame but not vice versa. The inside rail dimensions look the same as I do not see any gap when either slide in the rails of either frame with the slide in the frame. It's just the P-06 slide won't fully slide back past what seems to be the ejector bar on the sear cage that's stopping it. Now the P-01 slide and barrel fit on the P-06 frame and cycles ammo with the P-01 9mm mags in the P-06 mag well. I don't have a caliper right now but the P-06 slide is wider than the P-01 slide exterior dimensions. From the top serrations on the P-06 slide it meets the the sides with a straight angle as opposed to the P-01 being rounded from the same point on both sides.
I installed CGW's 11lb hammer spring and extended firing pin with their lighter fp spring. The DA pull on the stock hammer spring was too heavy, but now is more manageable. I'm used to running at least 11lb hs if not 8.5lb hammer springs.
