    first time buyer

    Hi everyone!

I am a first time potential buyer. I have my eye on a glock g19, and I found someone local willing to sell one for 550 with a few extras (mag clip and holster). I am moving to California from PA in a few weeks, and I want to buy one before I move because it sounds like it is even harder to find them out there.

Any advice re: price, waiting to buy, etc. would be very much appreciated.

Also, the glock comes with 3 15 rnd mags, so I will have to somehow switch those to 10 rnders before moving. suggestions??
    Thanks!

Sell the 15 round mags online and then buy some 10 round mags? You should read up on CA gun laws before you move here too, just to cover your own butt...

Will do, thanks for the links.
Is there any reason to wait and buy in LA? Or should I get one while I can?

you're going to have to register it anyway so I imagine no. however, they can be tougher to find out here. probably better if it applies to an off roster gun, then you can't get it here without the single shot hassles.

like said earlier, mags are an issue. 15rd will land you in the slammer. 10rd and you're safe. see, the first ten rounds are perfectly safe, it's those extra 5 that make you do horrible things. don't ask me how, I just know that my betters have figured it out for me.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Looks like a lot of work for something that may get you in trouble. To be safe, I would sell the 15 rd mags and just buy some 10 rounders. I was just at my LGS this week and they had 73 G19 mags in stock. Granted they were hoarding a bunch of those to pair with guns that come in with 15 rounders, but they were parting with some.

Also if you want a gen 4 you better buy before you move because we will probably never see them for sale new here in CA unless you use SSE.

I'm surprised nobody has said just take them apart and hold on to them. If you end up going to a free state to shoot or do a pistol class you can use them there. Just make sure you don't put them together inside Cali borders and you can have them. Parts are parts. Once in pieces its not a mag anymore.

                  Thanks everyone for your comments.

I actually found a local LGS that had a one Glock 17 in stock....so I bought it for 529 + tax. Now I just need to swap out the magazines before I head back to California.

Aside from taking it to the range, what should I do now?

                    - Take an interesting picture of it and post it here so we know what we are talking about...
Then we can properly congratulate you on your first purchase.

                    - Learn to detail strip it (simple, fun)... while you're at it, give it a $.25 trigger job.

                    - Research different replacement sights. Night sights, competition sights, etc...

Here's one of many videos on how to detail strip...

                      - Get a Glock generation 4.
                      - Sale the 15-rd mags and buy the 10-rd.
                      - Then move to CA.

If you can't find the gen 4, here are my suggestion:

                      - HK P30
                      - HK P30L
                      - HK45c
                      - HK45
                      - SA XDM
                      - SA XDs
                      - FN Herstal FNS or FNX
                      - Any CZ
                      - Any Sig Sauer

You can use those to kill 5 more school kids without reloading. In California, you are only allowed to kill 10 school kids without reloading.

Killing 15 school kids between magdrops is strictly forbidden in California.

You can keep the mags, you just need to completely take em apart. They are then considered parts kits
and do NOT assemble them in CA under any circumstances....except for a zombie invasion of course
