Sig 2022 40 cal

Hey guys I'm new to this site and. I am looking at getting a hand gun for a home defense weapon. I havnt heard many review on his weapon does anyone have any input thanks

My only suggestion is go to the range shoot a plethera of different guns to see which one tou like. The 2022s arent a bad choice for the price.

I've had about 3 clients who have brought these. They are very accurate and the DA trigger is the best of of the SIG line...very easy to shoot well. I personally prefer the 9mm and 357SIG versions...but then, I've shot more examples of these than the .40s

The 2022 is a great value as R&D cost were covered by the French contract SIG hasn't offered variations on the basic gun.

This, I have the 9mm and have nothing bad to say about it. What works for me may not work for you though.

I love my .40 sp2022. Have put about 500 rounds through it and have not had a single failure. Looking to put another 500 in about a week or so.

i owned this gun and i sold it 6 months later. not because i didnt like it but because i wanted something better. for the price its a good gun.

this was my first handgun. it's a great gun, especially at its price point. if you haven't heard much about it, you'll have to search more because there are tons of threads on this gun.mine is in .40 with night sights. I really liked the trigger...until I shot my brothers 229. the 229 I thought had a much nicer, crisp trigger. but still do like the 2022.

I own an SP2022 in both 9mm and 40 S&W and I love the way they feel in my hand and they shoot very accuartely. I own more expensive Sigs but for the money it a very good value and a joy to shoot. It's a great entry level Sig

I have it in .40, & I've shot about 2000 rds so far only twice it didnt shoot (wrong shelled ammo .357) & it's very solid. Good looking gun for its price too!

it's a good value for a Sig but I still prefer the 226 if you're looking at 40 cal. The 2022 is more popular in 9mm.

Funny. I have a friend that is a precision handgun shooter. For some reason, he struggles with his SP2022 in .40 Cal. He has no problems tearing a 1.5" bulls eye out at 10 yards but with this handgun, he is off the mark. He was so frustrated with the handgun that, at one point, he almost threw it down range. He shoots much better with his 1911s and his Glocks. I prefer M&P but wanted to try the SP2022. After my friends frustrations, I may not bother.

I had a sig p2022 in .40 and just recently sold it. At the price point it’s a good gun, at the price point it’s a HORRIBLE gun for me. First off with my thumbs forward they would engage the slide lock about 30% of the time. I could solve the problem by keeping my thumbs off the frame. I shot it like this for some time but I could never shoot it as accurately as even smaller guns. Rented a M&P40 and shot it side by side with the sig and nearly threw the sig down the lane. That day sealed the fate of my 2022.

It’s a good reliable gun for others, but I had to alter my grip to shoot it. This made it difficult for me to be as accurate with it. Im sure practice could have overcome this issue, but I didn’t want to mess around with a pistol that I had to learn a special way to shoot if I was going to keep it for defensive duty. The trigger is nice out of the box. The gun quality is right where it should be or better for pistols in the price range. But I just couldn’t shoot the bloody thing.

Don't buy it. They've put the slide release in the place where we're told to put our thumbs for the modern, thumbs forward grip. The slide will not lock back a lot of the time because of this. This gun was designed by engineers in Europe who obviously don't shoot.

The .40S&W round kinda sucks, it's snappy and in 2013 with modern, bonded ammunition doens't do anything a 9mm can't do. And it's more expensive than 9mm. So you're buying the "cheapo SIG" only to get it chambered in the more expensive round. Get a Glock 17, 19 or M&P 9.

I wouldn't suggest Glock, I suggest going to a higher model Sig because we ALL know that they kick Glock *****....

I'm sure people here are getting sick of me saying this for every 2022 thread, but this model Sig is what taught me to *really* consider the ergonomics of a gun before buying it. When I first held it at the LGS, I was in a rush, and thought it felt "good enough."

When I finally took it home (and later shot w/ it), I realized that it felt rather front heavy, and the grip length ended at an awkward place in my hand, causing discomfort. I sold it and went for the Sig I wanted in the first place: the P226.
