GLOCKS US VS. AUSTRIA
Collapse

Yes, If the Glock you have says Austria on the slide it is the original tennifer treatment under the finish, new or old. If the slide says USA on the slide like some G17s and G22s do then it's the USA approved 'Melonite/tennifer' treatment.
That's the only thing I can think of at the moment... -
The difference is one needs to be SSE and the other doesn't.My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with.Comment

I am trying to find the source butt I read somewhere that the USA made Glocks are usually for a promotion/limited run given as gifts to "special" people. They don't make that many USA versions. Only real difference to me is the stamp on the slide and it is off-roster.*********************
WTS:
1. PW 800+ Hydro Multispeed (just the hydraulic unit that also works with Spolar press)
2. PW 800B converted to 800C (12 gauge) with lots of accessories and upgrades
3. Hornady 366 (12 gauge)

It is also apparently worth the same as a bar of gold according to some of the sellers posting in the marketplace. Sillyness...*********************

Most US make Glocks are made to export to other countries that do not accept product from Austria.I am trying to find the source butt I read somewhere that the USA made Glocks are usually for a promotion/limited run given as gifts to "special" people. Who doesn't accept product from Austria? They're pretty much like the Swiss and Swedes. They don't even belong to NATO. I can't think of anyone pissed off at Austria. Heck, they probably even get along with "Big Fatty #3" in the DPRK.
I believe Glock started making guns here so they could bid on US government foreign contract/aid like the 17k G!7 order they won through the US government for IRAQ.
Think about it. If the US is going to take bids to provide pistols to every cop in Afghanistan, they aren't going to take a bid from CZ. Every US pistol manufacturer will be in their Senator's office on The Hill having a hissy fit. Producing guns here removes the "not made in America political obstacle to winning government contracts for export."Hence it happened that all the armed prophets conquered, all the unarmed perished." - Niccolo MachiavelliComment

I recently picked up an Austrian Gen4 G23 and a USA Gen4 G27. Both of them have the same slide finish which both happen to be different than all of my other glocks. The new finish is slightly more mottled. I actually like it better. So is the outside finish the same between country's of origin but the treatments underneath different?
