Wow! That is super rare! It's a beauty and don't shoot it. It's gone so many years without being fired so why shoot it now?

If I recall correctly they were only made in 1980 and 81. I have one in blue, but no box.

The point is if you sell it for big bucks and buy a .357, you'll then have a .357 Python that looks just like your old one and shoots the same, PLUS several hundred bucks in your pocket.

I sold mine a few years ago without the box for $1400

if it was mine, it would remain a safe queen.

I agree... no point in un-safe-queening it now.

Go buy another revolver and shoot that. Shooting the python and shooting another revolver wouldn't be that different except you are losing the "investment" of years of not shooting!

I have the nickel version, bought it new from the Kittery Trading Post about 1980 and haven't shot it much at all. Actually, for the longest time I hadn't paid much attention to it and figured it was worth about the same as most Pythons. I didn't shoot it very much, in part because my 8" Dan Wesson was more accurate and easier to handle.

One item I found to be unusual was that the revolver will chamber 357 Magnum cartridges - I learned this shortly after buying the gun. Again, I bought the revolver new from an authorized distributor. When I discovered it would chamber the longer 357 I called Colt directly. They advised me to return the gun to them however I never got around to it.

I would probably sell it and buy a gun/guns that I actually shoot. Maybe even sell it for a mint and buy a less rare and already used Python in .357. But that's just me, I don't see a point in keeping a gun that I'm never going to shoot unless it has some sort of sentimental value or something.
