To my knowledge as long as the gun itself is CA legal your good to go. Just leave the mags out of state or have the seller take the mags apart and send them as re-build kits.

why would a gen3 glock g23 be off the roster?

here is what i see on the roster.

        23 / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.02" .40 S&W 12/31/2013
        23 OD / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.02" .40 S&W 4/25/2014

        and here's the g22:

        22 / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.49" .40 S&W 12/31/2013
        22 OD / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.49" .40 S&W 11/16/2013

how do i know if the exact G23 and G22 i'm looking at is one of the above?

Ok, Gen 3 are OD, not FDE, but you will need some kind of magazine to do the Safe Handling Demonstration, otherwise gtg.

Sorry for the bad info, just found out there are gen3 FDE's and it does not look like they are on the roster, people who have gotten them in CA went through the SSE process. Good luck.
