    Ruger Mkll or mklll

looking for photos of MKll or MKlll stainless 4.5" bull barrel

I was looking for a Ruger Mkll or mklll for my wife..I was looking at specs and didn't realize the Ruger is approz 32 oz..that seems kinda heavy for a small female to shoot?
I had looked at a Phoeniz Arms H22a, really light, but it seemed like you get what you pay for. Issues with frame crack?

If you want to get a lighter MkIII you can get a Ruger 22/45. It's essentially the same thing with a lighter polymer lower. Doesn't feel as good in the hand to me but you should check it out.

My 16 YO Daughter loves to shoot this handgun. I'm thinking an adult woman would have no problem with it.

I own a bunch of 'em. A Ruger Mark series should be the PERFECT gun for a kid/woman/shooter with small hands.
The MK III has a mag safety and loaded chamber indicator that STINK! The first thing I do when I buy a new one is get rid of those.
There is a guy on Rimfirecentral who makes a bushing to replace the mag safety with. And another who makes an "LCI Filler" that is the next best thing to them not putting it in your gun in the first place:

I'm not in Cali, so this may be a violation of state law there so make sure it's not before doing this. Otherwise, if you can find a MK II, they will have neither -and a smoother trigger pull because of it

            All perfectly legal.

Nice. I figured the redundant safeties were for Cali or Mass approval.

If weight is really an issue, Another option for your wife would be a Browning Buckmark Micro.

At the time, I couldn't find a standard in stainless (only bull barrels which were much too heavy) so I bought a target model in stainless and paid a 'smith $100.00 to turn it down to replicate a standard. I put an optical sight on it:

My wife didn't like it so I absorbed it into my collection.

I'm gonna bet the weight won't be an issue. I mean, unless you have her running Mag40 drills and shooting 500 rounds or something, the weight will just make recoil non-existent and follow up shots more accurate. I trained my teenage nieces to pistol shoot with a MK III at about ages 11 and 13. I had a Mosquito and P22 also, but they seemed "snappy" to them.

I can meet you at the local indoor range and let you test drive a MKIII with the mag disconnect removed. It's a 5.5 bull barrel.

Browning buckmark is another tack driver to consider. The Phoenix is a really fun gun I have my doubts it will last, it's pretty accurate for being so small but can't even be compared to the ruger or browning.

^^^ browning buckmark is great! But if the OP has the money go for the mark III or the 22/45, either way you can't go wrong by getting a mark II either. So basically whatever you can afford.
