1911 9mm magazines

Hi All.

I have the Springfield 1911 9mm 9134LP and I'm looking to buy 2 more magazines. I did the research and it appears that most 1911 9mm magazines will work properly on this gun. There was even talk from other forums that the SA EMP 10rd magazine will work flawlessly. If anyone can confirm this, please let me know.

Also, has anybody tried the Metalform and Mecgar 9rd mags? Are all 1911 9mm magazines universal? The Colt, Kimber, Wilson, magazines appear to look identical to the Springfield.

I have used Kimber and WC 9mm mags on SA and worked fine.

When I owned that pistol, Tripp Research magazines worked flawlessly. Personally, I believe they are the absolute best 1911 magazines on the market.

Stay away from metalform 9mm if you can. Mine have had issues since day one. SAs have been reliable but hold 9.

I picked up the same gun about a year ago. It's a great pistol. For mags the stock Springfield mags are very reliable and a good value but they hold only 9 rounds. I wanted the max capacity so I tried Wilson, Tripp, and Metalform 10 rounders. Tripp worked the best in my gun. My buddy liked the Metalform mags for his Springfield. The three brands I tested are all quality makers they each have their own features so there is no universal design. You'll have to try them all. Don't depend solely on popular opinion.

I thought the factory magazine that came with that model are Metalform (no issues with my pair).
I don't feel like removing my slam pad to confirm...anyone?

If you still have your Loaded coupon, that is your best deal (order more to save on shipping).
When it's time to replace the magazine spring, I get the Wilson follower and spring combo (I dunno, I like polymer followers).

EMP magazine will not even seat into a regular full size 1911 nor will the EMP even fit a regular 1911 magazine (mag well too small).

Currently using CheckMate and WC ETM's with no issues at all.Just ordered 2 Tripp mags.,will report back.

I'm running MecGar's in mine. Picked them up from Midway for $20 each. Reliable and no problems. I believe the factory ones are MetalForm.

Thanks all. Yes, i just checked and the two mags that came with the gun is from Metalform. And yes to (jbe90); I was referring to WC ETM instead of the SA EMP. They don't make EMP mags in 10rd. It would be nice to have a 10 rounder so I'll likely go with the WC ETM. Hope to find some in stock; if not, there are plenty of the Metalform and Mecgar available.

I started with Wilson ETM magazines, and made the mistake of purchasing 6 of them. Needless to say, they were not compatible with the 9134 that I had.

Tripp research mags work the best for my 9mm 1911. I also have a couple extra metaform mags along with the factory SA mags and they work fine too. the only one that hasn't worked 100% of the time is the Wilson Combat ones. Which is weird because they make the best 1911 mags for the .45acp

I run MecGar and MetalForms in mine (I have 7). Both work well, zero issues. I will say that it seems like the MecGar has a stiffer spring than the MetalForms; however, with that said I still prefer the MetalForms, they feel a bit sturdier.

www.gregcotellc.com was good on price, has cheap flat rate shipping, and fast. They came out to a few dollars cheaper than Midway, and my mags arrived at my doorstep within 3 days of me placing the order.

Plus one on Tripp. After I got my first four sold the other brands and bought more. They really are a well made product.
