    1911 Full Rail Holster Questions

I'm planning on taking some pistol classes and every class requires the use of a holster. I am going to be taking the classes with my bedside gun which is an RIA 2011 Tactical with a full rail...it's a clone of the TRP full rail Operator. That said, I have two problems...I have no idea what type of holster to get and it's difficult to find one suited for this pistol.

So that said, I don't need to worry about CCW because I live in LA County. I'm just looking for something that would work well for the class and be practical should I ever need to use it. I also plan to take carbine courses and will need it for those.

I've found these but again know nothing about the styles of holsters and what I should be considering.

Since you're not Carrying, then get a speed holster that holds the gun by the trigger guard. Like the Double Alpha Speed Master
If you don't like the speed-style, the go for the Double Alpha PDR
You can find these are Speedshooters and Shootersconnection

High Noon Holsters makes holsters for railed 1911's also. I have a Need for Speed for my railed Pro which has a considerable wait but they do have a less expensive line which they usually have in stock: http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Prod...wift_skin.html

        Just posted this somewhere else:

IMO, Garrett Industries manufactures the best holsters out there.

I have the Silent Thunder STX Champion, which features a smooth and premium leather interior that is bonded to a light and extremely durable Kydex exoskeleton. The bonded edges between the Kydex and leather are completely seamless, and the sight channel is extremely smooth for snag-free draws. Speaking of draws, you could probably draw your pistol 1,000 times before you see any wear on your finish. I cannot emphasize how smooth the leather interior is, and retention is excellent.

Made to order, and features premium hardware. Replacement belt-mounts are available in black and Coyote Brown with a 6 or 13 degree cant, or no cant at all, which is how I prefer mine.

Correct, I am not planning on using this for competition but rather for classes, both pistol and carbine, and to have on hand if/when I would ever need to carry a pistol for a defensive purpose.

Thanks to everyone for their help, as I am researching, I think one of the Kydex molded belt holsters will work the best for me.

I second Garrett Industries holsters. I get questions every time I'm at the range when they see the kydex/leather duo.

Slightly different than Press Check though - I own the Silent Thunder OWB for M&P, and the Silent Thunder Champion for the 1911. Definitely a fan of the speed cut for both form and function...

Garrett Industries should have no problem making a full rail holster for you, or full rail w/ light if you wanted. Both times I've ordered, my holsters have arrived in under 2 weeks which is much faster than some of the other popular holster manufactures.
