Last of the "Old School" German made SiG's off roster now....

I'm glad I got mine when I could...

Old school SiG's ....stamped carbon steel slides "MADE IN W.GERMANY" or "MADE IN GERMANY". IMHO superior in balance, workmanship and reliability to the new Exeter NH made American versions....

Old school P220's and P228's have dropped off roster in the last two weeks to join P226, P225 and P210.

There's always the option of getting one thru SSE.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Unfortunately, not for long. They'll close SSE's this summer I fear, and just keep squeezing and squeezing guns off the roster.

I own three of each...P220's and three P228's. I am aware of the off roster because I was lucky enough to find an nice NIB/unfired P228 to my collection in mid March and got it into the state while I still could.

I guess once a gun goes off roster it's value/desirability goes up a bit too ??

I am stoked I have a matching set of a German 226 and 228. Both in very good condition and both had the full service package from the Sig factory.

I'm sure the 226 will be back on the roster soon. Sig corp loves California and always wants in this state bad.

100% agree with the op but with a twist. I've owned 4 Sigs in my time 1 W. German which was the best, 1 German second best, 1 "frame made in Germany" third and a 100% US made.

I've kept 2 of them, My West German P225 which is amazing. It's as if the slide is on ball bearings and it locks up like a vault. I'll probably never sell this gun.

Then I have the all US made P226 and it's not even in the same league for fit and finish. The thing is a rattle trap. It's accurate and reliable but you can completely tell the difference in quality but does it really matter? I kept if for a reason.

I got it new in box for $425.00 (Customer Service accommodation after a snafu that went on for over a month) and I've run it HARD. I've shot thousands and thousands of rounds out of it. Probably 5K easy. It's been to a Bruce Gray Practical Tactical class and the 4 day defensive handgun class at Front Sight. It's never malfunctioned regardless of how crappy the ammo I use in it and it hits the X every single time. In fact Bruce Gray told me I shot "Freakishly small groups" with this gun.

So yeah I can tell the quality difference but I'm not so sure it's that big of a deal.

Well I think there is a difference and have all German made guns...

                          P220 European "MADE IN W.GERMANY"
                          P220 "MADE IN W.GERMANY"
                          P220 "MADE IN GERMANY"

                          P226 "MADE IN W.GERMANY"
                          P226 "MADE IN GERMANY"

                          P228 "MADE IN W.GERMANY"
                          P228 "MADE IN GERMANY"
                          P228 "MADE IN GERMANY"

                          P-6 "MADE IN W.GERMANY"

IMHO...you can never have enough of a good thing!

There IS a difference. It's a huge difference in even how the gun feels in your hand. My stamped slide German Sigs just oozed quality.

My point is that my rattle trap P226 has never malfunctioned and is very accurate.

How about this, I wouldn't buy another US made Sig but I would buy a German made one and I shoot the bejesus out of my P226 because I paid a song for it and I don't care what happens to it.

The P6 from PW Arms is still on he list. While there is certainly a difference in feel (folded slides being lighter), there's not really a quality difference in my W. German and American Sigs. But then, I handle and check the fit of guns before I buy them (only buy FTF, no online), and walk if I don't like them.
