    Desert Eagle frame mod

Hello all, looking for some (hopefully) positive feedback. Love them or hate them, I purchased a .44 desert eagle and converted it using factory parts to a .41 mag, because I am a weirdo and love the cartridge. Compared to my S&W model 57, this is an incredibly sweet gun to shoot. The problem is the ergonomics of the lower grip/frame, which seems to not be designed for human hands. I put a set of rubber Houges on it, which helped, but it is still clumsy. Even with the size of the magazine, it looks like the frame could be slightly reshaped for a better, more comfortable feel. I've done many web searches to no avail. Does anyone know or have heard of a smith or shop that performs this service? Just so you know, this isn't some horrible blinged out, tiger striped, gold plated novelty abomination. I am a sucker for large bore revolvers and now am in love with this blued, slab sided anvil of a autoloader. Thanks.

Tim LaFrance did the Podbyrin 9.2 mm Pistol mod for the movie Red Heat on a DE 357.

I don't think he changed the grip too much, just new panels to look like a P38.

If you threw a LOT of money at him he might fool with it but it's not likely.

I suppose you could skeletonize the front of the grip and grasp the magazine itself but they are picky about mag height for proper functioning. The back of the grip contains the mainspring and I don't think you can take too much metal away without destroying any trace of reliability.

(sigh)Seems to be no solution but to deal with it, too bad. Thanks for the input. I bought this thing on a lark, but was amazed at how sweet a .41 DE actually shoots, after years of punishment with my model 57.I actually saw an article about a 1911 style Coonan .41 a few years back but have never been able to locate one, and even if I did, probably couldn't afford it.
